Student answer (Band 5.0)

Global fashion trends dominates in the lives of most of the people. People dress and showcase their interest in fashion according to what is in the trend.

In my view whether the influence is positive or negative it totally depends upon the consumption of the fashion trends.

As the world today is digitalized and we are living in the global village , whatever people see and whatever is trending, whatever is in fashion or meme , or any thing people started to using it without ant control, talking in the lens of fashion or mostly have negative impact on the life of individual.

Firstly, majority of the people living overall have very limited resources to use, and spending fortunes on the fashion trends which stays in the trend for about few months is not a beneficial way of spending your hard earned money. For instance, the individual working odd jobs and instead of spending money on basic things of living spending money on thing that are the talk of town.

Secondly, people just want to fit in the society norms and want them to feel included buys things which everyone is talking about. the fear of being left out makes them buy things that are of no use and are in trends for about few months and then vanish and then new trend talks place and the cycle continues.

It only help to the people that are social media influencers or have any presence on any media platforms that by following the trends will eventually helps them to make money and they gain more followers and their videos will have more engagement and the cycle continues. only people like this will have positive influence on their life and they are already less numbers .

people who already have difficult time in meeting in their ends, spending money on trends don't make any sense.

In conclusion, people should spend their on the things they will gain benefits in the long term instead of spending on the short term things.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear overall view that the effects are mostly negative, while acknowledging that trends can benefit social-media influencers. Your reasons—spending limited income on short-lived styles and buying items to avoid feeling excluded—are relevant to the question. However, the explanation of how global fashion became influential is only briefly addressed through digital media and the “global village”; this part needs clearer development, such as explaining how influencers, online advertising, and international brands spread trends. Several examples remain general, and the final paragraph repeats the advice to avoid short-term purchases rather than drawing the main points together. Develop both parts of the prompt more evenly and support claims with a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two main reasons, a contrasting point about influencers, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad argument. However, progression is uneven: the opening paragraph contains several loosely connected ideas, and the explanation of digital influence is not clearly separated from your opinion. Some points are repeated, particularly the short-lived nature of trends and the pressure to fit in. The influencer paragraph also begins with “It” without a clear reference, and the final sentence is disconnected from the preceding paragraph. Use one focused idea per paragraph, clearer links between cause and effect, and more precise referencing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “global fashion trends,” “social media influencers,” “followers,” and “engagement,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at more expressive phrases such as “the talk of town” and “fear of being left out.” However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, especially “in the trend” and “spending money.” Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unclear, including “any thing,” “talks place,” and “meeting in their ends,” which can make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Aim for more precise expressions for financial hardship, trend cycles, and online promotion, and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with subordinate clauses, for example, “As the world today is digitalized…” and the sentence beginning “Firstly, majority of the people…”. However, complex sentences are often difficult to follow because of faulty construction, and errors occur frequently in agreement, verb forms, articles, and punctuation. Examples include “Global fashion trends dominates,” “people started to using it,” and “It only help.” Sentence boundaries are also unclear in places, particularly where a new sentence begins with lowercase “the” or “only.” These errors sometimes make the intended relationships between ideas harder to understand. Practise building shorter, complete sentences first, then add clauses while checking subject–verb agreement and verb patterns.
