Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is commonly observed that people are attracted to worldwide fashion trends in their daily lives. Although, there are few drawbacks to this phenomenon, there are also some positive developments.
On the one hand, in recent days most people are connected through social media, which links them to the entire world. As a result individuals become connect people with different walk of life, people aware of various culture, their clothing styles and modern lifestyle. This exposure often draws many people toward cultural diversity, which is quite influential. Firstly, individuals become more aware of other cultures and their lifestyles, which generally earns them respect from others. Another positive point is that the fashion industry is becoming increasingly attractive as more people engage with it, helping various fashion brands to enhance their value. Additionally, this interest positively impacts the export-import industry, benefitting the national GNP and GDP.
On the other hand, there are some individuals who dislike this phenomenon. They may feel hesitant or lack confidence when they perceive themselves as being left out of the community because they do not follow the so-called trends. Moreover, children and teenagers are often particularly drawn to global fashion trends, which can lead to increased purchases from foreign brands. This tendency can sometimes be detrimental to parents' financial stability and their mental well-being. For instance, local small brands may suffer as they lose their popularity in their own countries due to global trends, particularly if they do not expand their business abroad.
In conclusion, I would like to emphasize that there are both positive and negative developments associated with this topic. There are strong arguments both for and against the significant influence of fashion trends on people's daily lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both questions by explaining social media’s role in spreading fashion and discussing benefits and drawbacks. The response gives relevant points, including cultural exposure, business activity, social pressure, and spending by young people. However, the explanation of how fashion became influential is brief and largely limited to social media; other mechanisms, such as advertising, celebrities, or international retail, could make this answer fuller. Your view on whether the development is positive or negative is also not clearly stated: the introduction and conclusion present both sides without deciding which overall judgement you hold. Some claims, such as fashion earning people respect or improving national GDP, need clearer explanation or a specific example. State a definite position and develop the main points with more precise support.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. The contrast signalled by “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” helps readers follow the discussion, and ideas within each paragraph are generally grouped by topic. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the stronger progression expected at the next level. However, the opening promises a balanced discussion but does not establish a clear overall position, and the conclusion repeats that both sides exist rather than synthesising the argument. Some links are mechanical, while the sequence from cultural awareness to respect and then economic benefits could be made more explicit. Use clearer cause-and-effect links and make each paragraph build toward your final judgement.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “worldwide fashion trends,” “cultural diversity,” “fashion industry,” and “financial stability.” These choices make the subject clear, and phrases such as “left out of the community” communicate social pressure effectively. There are also attempts at less common or formal language, but some combinations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “become connect people,” “various culture,” and “benefitting the national GNP and GDP.” “Export-import industry” is also less natural than a more precise phrase such as “international trade.” These issues do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and fluency. Focus on accurate collocations and avoid using technical economic terms unless you can explain their relevance clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including subordinate clauses such as “when they perceive themselves as being left out” and “if they do not expand their business abroad.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in both basic and more complex sentences. For example, “Although, there are few drawbacks” uses punctuation incorrectly after the conjunction, and “individuals become connect people” has an incorrect verb form and sentence structure. In “people aware of various culture,” the clause lacks a finite verb, and the plural form is needed. These errors sometimes make the reader pause, though the overall meaning is usually recoverable. Practise building complete clauses and checking verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation, while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
