Student answer (Band 6.0)
In modern times, it can be seen clealry that peoples' fashion sense has been highly effected by gloabal sensations either actors, players or artists. This trend has drastic influence in peoples' lives and in my opinion social media and affordability to buy various brands play crucial role in promoting this wave. This practice not only cause various problems for individuals but also questions ones' individual personlity.
Firstly, by the advent of social media, everyone is aware of ongiong trends in fashion and overall. When people see certain renowned individuals wearing particular fashion or dress code, they get inspired and thrives to follow the same trend as thier idols. Secondly, the availibilty of gloabal brands in the national market has made it easy for people to get their hands on the fashion items and accessories.Wearing a same piece of cloth that your idol has worn gives sense of accomplishment and belonging to their fans. For instance, the rising trend of korean skincare and attire can be seen everywhere.
Taking in account the facts, I think that it has more detrimental affects. First and foremost that in race of purchasing new and trendy items, people go at lengths to earn the required money which causes them to pursue numerous unlawful activities. For instance, there were many cases recorded that people havesold their one kidney to buy iphone just to be acceptable in a society. Secondly, the major drawback is people lost their individuality and they get blended easily in the crowd. Every country has their profound culture, customs but following one single global trend causes to lose the uniqueness of one's personality.
In conclusion, unfortunately, how we present ourselves today greatly depends upon the ongoing fashion trends that are seen all over the social media and which has compromised our orignality and pureness.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both parts of the prompt: social media and the availability of international brands explain how global fashion spreads, and you clearly judge the trend to be detrimental. The examples of Korean skincare and clothing and people pursuing extreme means to buy fashionable products help make the discussion relevant. Your position is also reinforced in the conclusion. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: the claim that people commit unlawful acts to afford trends needs a clearer link or more credible support, and the loss of cultural uniqueness could be developed with a specific example. The response therefore covers the task well overall, but the support and development are uneven; fuller explanation would make the argument more convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining the influence of fashion, a paragraph presenting its disadvantages, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “In conclusion” make the main stages easy to follow. Some connections, however, feel mechanical, and the progression within paragraphs is not always smooth. For example, the move from social-media influence to brand availability is clear, but the sentence about feeling “accomplishment and belonging” could be linked more explicitly to the explanation. The conclusion repeats the central concern rather than drawing the two causes and effects together. Use referencing and transitions more flexibly, and make the relationship between each example and its point explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt topic-relevant vocabulary, including “global brands,” “individuality,” “trend,” and “uniqueness,” and the reader can generally understand your meaning. However, the range and control are limited by repeated general terms such as “people,” “fashion,” and “trend,” as well as inaccurate word choices and collocations. Phrases such as “highly effected by global sensations,” “pursue numerous unlawful activities,” and “profound culture” do not express the intended ideas naturally. Spelling errors, including “clealry,” “gloabal,” and “orignality,” also make the writing less polished. Build a more precise vocabulary for influence, consumer behaviour, and cultural identity, and check spelling and common word partnerships carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional-style explanation beginning “When people see…” and a contrastive structure with “not only…but also.” These attempts help communicate relationships between ideas. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include “This practice not only cause,” “people lost their individuality,” and “following one single global trend causes to lose.” The opening sentence also has an unclear grammatical structure, while the final sentence combines clauses awkwardly. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and ensuring each verb has a complete, correctly formed construction. More accurate complex sentences would improve clarity and range.
