Student answer (Band 6.5)
In recent times, people's dressing styles are being largely influenced by the international fashion trends. It is mainly because of social media and accessibility to international brands. Although it has some drawbacks, I believe it is a positive development because it leads to cultural exchange and economic growth for local designers.
People are greatly being influenced by global fashion trends mainly because of two reasons. One of these include social media that is widely being followed for fashion. For example, celebrities and influencers wear and advertise clothes on Tik Tok, instagram, and Youtube. As people admire these influencers, they tend to copy them and adopt such modern styles. Another reason is access to global fashion in many countries. For example, many shopping malls in Pakistan have now retail centres for international designers, due to which people have access to such brands and they can easily buy their clothings.
I consider that influence of international fashion on people is a positive trend because it leads to exchange of different cultures. People come to know about various kinds of culture and they can also represent their cultures to others. For instance, fashion weeks in Paris are arranged each year that involve models from different countries wearing their country's dresses. Thus, people get familiar with the variety of clothing styles from different regions of the world.Furthermore, spread of these dressing styles helps local designers as they may get recognition on inernational level. Also, it brings more income to them and it will help the country's economy in the long run.
To conclude, global fasion styles have affected the way people dress today because of social media applications and increase access to global brands of fashion. Although it has some disadvantages such as buying of expensive clothes and distance from the national history and traditions, I believe it is a postive development due to cultural exchange and local designer recognition on international level.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response addresses both parts of the question: it explains the influence of social media and access to international brands, and maintains a clear positive view while acknowledging drawbacks. The examples of influencers and fashion weeks help support the main points, and the conclusion restates the position. This fits a response that covers the task and develops relevant ideas. To make the discussion more fully convincing, explain the causal links in greater depth: for example, how repeated exposure to online content changes everyday clothing choices, or how local designers specifically benefit from global trends. The claim that fashion weeks promote cultural exchange is relevant, but could be connected more explicitly to ordinary people’s lives rather than mainly to the fashion industry.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining the causes, a paragraph presenting the positive effects, and a conclusion. Ideas progress logically, and signposting such as “One of these,” “Another reason,” “Furthermore,” and “To conclude” helps readers follow the argument. The examples are generally placed alongside the points they support. Some linking is a little repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “For example” and “Also,” and the long final body paragraph combines cultural exchange with economic benefits without a strong transition between them. Separate or more clearly connect these effects, and use referencing more precisely so that each sentence’s relationship to the previous point is clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for discussing fashion and its effects, with relevant expressions such as “global fashion trends,” “cultural exchange,” “international brands,” and “local designers.” The writer also attempts more specific language, including “retail centres” and “recognition on international level.” However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “people’s dressing styles,” “buy their clothings,” and “increase access to global brands.” Spelling slips in “inernational,” “fasion,” and “postive” also reduce accuracy. These errors do not prevent understanding, but greater control of natural collocations and careful proofreading would make the vocabulary more precise and fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses with “because,” “although,” and “as,” as well as a relative clause in “brands … due to which people have access.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, and the argument remains easy to follow. Some grammatical errors persist, however. For example, “One of these include” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “people are greatly being influenced” uses an awkward passive construction. In “fashion weeks … that involve models,” the verb does not agree with the singular subject “fashion weeks” only if treated as a single event; more clearly, the sentence’s reference is imprecise. Review agreement, articles, and sentence construction, and aim for more consistently controlled complex sentences.
