Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays global fashion trends are highly being followed, and the core contributor to that is social media connectivity. Personally, I believe this is a negative development as it suppresses the cultural values among people.
Firstly, Increased digitalisation has made people to follow the recent dressing trends. This is because in today's world the technological advancements has made people closer, through the means of scoial media sites eg- Instagram. For this reason, global fashion brands such as Gucci promotes their new dress collections on such sites by hiring highly influential creators or celebrities;hence, the people on those sites gets inspired by those influencers, and are keen on buying the same dresses to follow the same fashion trends. As a result, people all around the globe are observed to be wearing the dresses which are in trend.
However, this is a negative development, since it suppresses the habits of people to wear their traditional attires. For instance, average Pakistanis used to wear the cultral dress of Shalwar and Kameez in past, which used to be suitable for the hot climatic conditions in the region. But as global fashion trends have been more prominent among people, so an average individual in Pakistan now prefers to wear dress pieces such as jeans, instead of traditional attire. Not only the jeans makes a person feel more hotter, but it also reduces the norm among people to wear their traditional dresses.
In my opinion, although global fashion courses may be more aesthetically pleasing to people, these trends hurts the cultural significance of traditional attires among different communities in th world. Since, people can feel themseleves as odd if they wear traditionall attires in such globally influenced socities, and could gradually forget their tradtional wears.
To conclude, social media sites provides the base for influencing people on newer global fashion trends, and this development as as whole has adverse effects on the culture of different regions around the globe.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both parts of the question: you explain social media’s role in spreading fashion and clearly state that the effect is negative because it weakens cultural traditions. The examples of Gucci using influencers and Pakistanis shifting from shalwar kameez to jeans make the discussion relevant and show how the influence operates. Your position remains consistent, including in the conclusion. To strengthen the response further, develop the explanation of how global fashion became influential beyond social media—for example, by considering advertising, international retail, or celebrity culture. The Pakistan example is useful, but claims such as people gradually forgetting traditional clothing would be more convincing with a clearer explanation or a specific supporting detail.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay has a clear overall progression: the introduction presents the cause and your view, the first body paragraph explains the influence of social media, the second develops the cultural concern, and the conclusion restates your position. Paragraphing is appropriate, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “However,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the argument. Some linking is less controlled: “For this reason” and “As a result” are close together in the first body paragraph, while “although” in the final body paragraph introduces a contrast that is not fully developed. The conclusion also repeats the main points rather than drawing them together. More precise referencing and a wider range of natural transitions would make the progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “global fashion trends,” “influential creators,” “traditional attires,” and “cultural significance.” These choices allow you to discuss both the spread of fashion and its effect on identity. You also attempt less common expressions, but some are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “highly being followed,” “global fashion courses,” and “feel more hotter.” Spelling errors—including “scoial,” “cultral,” and “tradtional”—also reduce the accuracy of the vocabulary. Aim for more natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe trends as “widely followed” and fashion collections as “promoted” or “showcased.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including clauses with “because,” “although,” and “since,” and most of the argument remains understandable. However, some errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction limit accuracy. For example, “technological advancements has made” should use a plural verb, while “the people on those sites gets inspired” has a subject–verb agreement error. In “these trends hurts,” the plural subject also requires a plural verb. The sentence beginning “Since, people can feel…” is an incomplete dependent clause, and “Not only the jeans makes…” has an awkward construction. Review agreement and ensure subordinate clauses are attached to complete sentences; this will help you use complex forms more reliably.
