Student answer (Band 5.0)

Several facts reveal that Global fashion trends is the main cause in influencing how individuals dress these days.

This is due to an advancement in technology, an increase in fashion trend and passion of young generations to cope-up with the uprising trends. The advertisements of global fashion influences people by showing the luxury signs and value of dressing like icons and filmstars. According to my opinion, this is a negative development as many people of low socio-economic groups can't cop up with the uprising trends, also it people spent their money on items that are not worth buying, just to follow the trends.

The global fashion trends have adverse affects for the poor aspects of the society because they don't have enough resources to cop up with the trends and fashion. Moreover, this could lead to criminal activities such as theft and other crimes. For example, this development could result in the increase of stress in the lower groups of the society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You give a clear negative position and identify relevant concerns: people with limited incomes may struggle to follow trends, and consumers may spend on items they do not need. You also mention advertising and the appeal of celebrities as reasons fashion spreads. However, the response only partially answers the task: the explanation of how global fashion became influential is brief, and the negative effects are asserted rather than developed with clear, specific examples. The point about crime, for instance, is not explained, while the example about stress is vague. The response also does not meet the required minimum length, so there is too little development to address both parts fully. Extend each main idea with a reason and a concrete example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening paragraph introduces causes and your opinion, followed by a paragraph about disadvantages. Linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “Seacondly” show an effort to connect points. However, the second paragraph does not develop a clear sequence, and the final paragraph begins but ends abruptly, leaving the argument incomplete. Some connections are also unclear: the move from limited resources to criminal activity needs an explanation, and “this development” does not clearly identify which effect it refers to. Plan a complete structure with an introduction, separate body paragraphs for influence and evaluation, and a conclusion. Use linking words to show precise relationships rather than simply adding another point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “global fashion trends,” “advertisements,” “socio-economic groups,” and “luxury,” which helps communicate the subject. There is also an attempt to use less common expressions such as “adverse affects.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, including “cope-up with,” “uprising trends,” and repeated use of “items” and “trends.” Spelling errors such as “Seacondly” and “filmstars” also reduce accuracy. Choose more natural phrases and vary your vocabulary—for example, describe trends as “emerging” or “current,” and say that people “keep up with” them. This would make the argument clearer and more precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a sentence beginning “This is due to…” and a clause introduced by “as.” The main position is generally understandable, but errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences awkward or unclear. For example, “Global fashion trends is” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “The advertisements of global fashion influences” also has incorrect agreement. The sentence beginning “According to my opinion” contains a confusing construction, while “also it people spent” is difficult to interpret. The final sentence is incomplete. Practise checking agreement, sentence boundaries, and clause structure, and make sure every sentence has a clear subject and verb. Shorter, accurately controlled sentences would improve readability.
