Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You state a clear overall view that global fashion is positive, and you give relevant points about technology, personal presentation, cultural awareness and income. However, the task is only partly addressed: the explanation of how fashion became influential is brief, and the discussion of whether this is positive is asserted more than developed. For example, the claim that technology has expanded people’s mindsets is not explained with a specific mechanism or example, while the point about retail income is difficult to follow. The conclusion simply repeats that fashion has improved life. The response is also three words below the required minimum. To strengthen the answer, explain how social media, advertising or international brands spread trends, then develop and support your evaluation with a clear example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The ideas are generally related to the topic, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “For example” and “To conclude” help signal relationships. However, progression within the paragraphs is sometimes unclear. The first body paragraph moves from teenagers’ awareness to historical technology, respect for well-dressed people and first impressions without showing how each point connects. The second paragraph combines cultural learning and income, which would be clearer if these were explained separately or linked explicitly. Some transitions are mechanical, and the conclusion adds little beyond repeating the introduction. Use a clearer sequence—causes of influence first, then benefits—and make each paragraph develop one main idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “global fashion,” “latest trends,” “diverse culture,” “retail” and “first impression,” so the reader can identify the subject and your main points. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making ideas difficult to understand. For instance, “Most facts relates” does not express a clear meaning, “fashion has made people as a source of income on retail prices” is unclear, and “new arrivals can increase excitement” is imprecise in context. Spelling errors such as “thier” and “activites” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise vocabulary for causes and effects, and check whether each phrase expresses the intended relationship. Prefer natural combinations such as “earn a living in the fashion industry” and “new collections attract consumers.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “because” and “which,” but control is inconsistent. Errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction, and some make the meaning harder to follow. Examples include “fashion trends has encourage,” “this can gives them,” “a well dressed person are,” and “people tends to learn.” The sentence beginning “Most facts relates” is also difficult to interpret because its structure is faulty. Punctuation and spacing are inconsistent, particularly around the example about the past. Practise forming accurate subject–verb combinations and use a reliable pattern for complex sentences: make one main claim, then add a clearly connected reason or example. Proofreading for tense and agreement would improve clarity.
