Student answer (Band 6.0)

Changing fashion trends are now become an entertainment for many people. Although global fashion trends influence youth to dress accourding to the newest trends, I firmly beleive that this is a negative development especially for the young girls becuase following fashion trends is not so budget friendly for many households which leads to stress and lak of confidence.

Rapid change in fashion trends influence all age groups around the world. High-end brands starts a trend which is further adopted by the local clothing markets. People like to buy every colour, cut and design which is trending, this is being influenced by the famous people such as social media influencers, actors and other celebraties. Many people can't afford to buy new clothes after every two months which leads to stress and sense of being judged by other. Many middle aged women dressed up according to fashion trends just to be called classy and cool, that habit cause a stressful atmosphere at home regarding money saving.

Runway clothes are not wearable except few events. Young girls seems to get influenced by them by calling it a sence of self expression. Youth judge other peoples' background by looking at their appearence and people who are not interested in fashion trends are called uncool. All these aspects causes a negetive impact on young generation where they loss their focus from their studies to be more fashionable.

In conclusion, fashion trends taught people about self expression but relying too much on following each trend is not suitable for the economy and damages the focus of the young people. Therefore, people should dress as they like to despite looking like a runway clown.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your response addresses both parts of the question: you explain how fashion spreads through high-end brands, local markets, and celebrities or social-media influencers, and you clearly judge its effects as mainly negative. The points about household spending, social judgement, and young people losing focus are relevant. However, the explanation of how global fashion became influential is less fully developed than your discussion of its disadvantages. For example, you identify influencers as a source but do not explain in detail how online exposure or global communication makes trends spread quickly. Some claims, such as fashion causing young people to neglect their studies, would also benefit from a specific example or clearer explanation. Develop each main point with a cause-and-effect link or an illustrative example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your negative position, the body paragraphs discuss the spread and effects of trends, and the conclusion restates your view. Ideas are generally grouped by topic, and linking expressions such as “Although,” “which leads to,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. At times, however, connections between points are abrupt. The second paragraph moves from brands and celebrities to household stress without clearly showing how one leads to the next, while the third shifts from runway clothing to peer judgement and study habits. Some references, such as “that habit,” are not fully precise. Use clearer topic sentences and make the relationship between each example and its main point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “global fashion trends,” “high-end brands,” “self expression,” and “sense of being judged.” These choices help communicate your ideas, and some phrases show an attempt to discuss social and financial effects rather than simply describe clothing. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “fashion trends are now become an entertainment,” “starts a trend,” and “a stressful atmosphere at home regarding money saving.” Spelling errors—including “accourding,” “celebraties,” and “appearence”—also reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural combinations and check spelling carefully; for instance, describe trends as “a form of entertainment” and say that brands “set” or “launch” trends.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in “Although global fashion trends influence youth…” and a relative clause in “which leads to stress.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include “are now become,” “Rapid change … influence,” “High-end brands starts,” and “that habit cause,” where verb forms or subject–verb agreement are incorrect. There are also problems with sentence construction and punctuation, particularly the long sentence beginning “People like to buy every colour…” where two ideas are joined with a comma. Review verb agreement and tense patterns, and separate independent clauses with a full stop or suitable conjunction. More accurate control of these structures would make your argument easier to read.
