IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Many aspects of the way people dress today are influenced by global fashion trends.

How has global fashion become such a strong influence on people's lives? Do you think this is a positive or negative development?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

In today's world, a growing concern is that many aspects of the way people dress today are influenced by global trends. Although, people can influenced through social media or when they were travel to the other country where fashion is very pouplar and trendy. In my opinion, this development having both positive as well as a little bit negative impacts.

To begin with, many poeple really like to follow that kind of fashion which is running in today's trends and also popular followed by a big fashion personalities on social media, while in many countries in the world having smiliar fashion trends but on the other hand in few countries the new fashion trend were also make which later plays crucial role in others countries where individuals can already enjoy current fashion trends. People find these trends by social media or any other sources then applied it their own self and enjoy it. In social media many celebrities and influencers are there and millions of people using social media and follow these kind of personalities. Due to this, global fashion trends were made and contuinue in many countries because when people saw new trend on their social media they were curious to try thes trends and enjoy this. For instance, the famous clothing brand introduce their new articles where they were invited many influencers so due to this their articles were promote and people watch and buy these articles and if people really love it then it will coming in the trend game and looking everwhere in the global.

I thought it is also a positive development where people can follow globally

fashion trends and like it, because its the thing that helps peoples in grooming and also helps to not follow only one kind of trends. In contrast its also have negative impacts that people remove there cultural and tradionals fashion trends in the race where they can follow new global fashion trend.

Linking phrases such as “To begin with,” “on the other hand,” and “In contrast” are used, but the relationships between ideas are not always clear; for instance, the shift from trends in different countries to social-media promotion is abrupt. Some references, including “this” and “these trends,” have unclear antecedents. Use separate paragraphs for the causes and the positive/negative effects, and connect each point in a clear sequence.

Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses, checking verb forms, agreement and sentence boundaries.
