Student answer (Band 5.0)
Global fashion trends have become increasingly influential in determining how people dress, particularly in the modern era of social media and international communication. This influence has grown becayse of technological advancements, celebrity culture and the expansion of global brands . in my opinion, although this development offers several benefits, its negative consequences make it largely negative trend.
One major reason for the growing influence of global fashion is the widespread use of social media. Platforms such as instagram and tiktok allow people to follow celebrites, influencers and the fashion designers from different parts of world. As result, clothing styles that originate in one country can quickly become popular internationally. Furthermore, international brands make fashionable clothing acessible to consumers in different regions for example young people in pakistan can easily adopt western styles such as oversized T shirts jeans and trainers, which are promoted by internationl celebrities. Consequently, fashion has powerful means of communication and self expression.
on the positive side, global encourages creativity and cultural exchange

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify several relevant causes of global fashion’s influence—social media, celebrity culture, international communication and global brands—and give a specific example involving young people in Pakistan adopting Western clothing. You also state a clear overall view that the development is largely negative. However, the response addresses the task only partially: the negative consequences promised in the introduction are not explained, and the positive side is reduced to the unfinished statement that global fashion “encourages creativity and cultural exchange.” The response also falls short of the required 250 words, leaving both the explanation of influence and the evaluation of its effects minimally developed. Extend each point with reasons and examples, and make the positive-versus-negative judgement explicit in the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: the opening introduces the topic and your position, followed by a paragraph explaining social media and international brands. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “As a result” and “Consequently” help show relationships between ideas. However, the response has no developed paragraph explaining the negative effects, and it ends abruptly with “on the positive side,” so the overall progression is incomplete. The shift from causes to evaluation is not supported by a clear paragraph structure, and the final sentence does not complete its idea. Use separate, fully developed paragraphs for causes, benefits and drawbacks, then add a conclusion that restates your judgement. Check capitalisation at the start of sentences to make the organisation easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “global fashion trends,” “technological advancements,” “celebrity culture,” “international brands,” and “cultural exchange.” These choices make the subject clear, and phrases such as “self expression” show an attempt to discuss fashion’s wider role. There are, however, several spelling errors and imprecise or awkward expressions, including “becayse,” “celebrites,” “acessible,” and “fashion has powerful means of communication.” These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce accuracy and naturalness. Proofread spelling and develop more precise collocations—for example, describe fashion as “a powerful form of communication” and explain what kinds of cultural exchange occur.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You show some ability to combine ideas in complex sentences, as in “although this development offers several benefits, its negative consequences make it largely negative trend,” and you use a relative clause in “styles that originate in one country.” Meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. The introduction needs an article before “largely negative trend,” and “allow people to follow … the fashion designers” has an unnecessary article. In “from different parts of world” and “As result,” articles are also missing. Sentence-initial capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, including the lowercase “in my opinion” and “on the positive side.” Review articles and sentence boundaries, while continuing to practise complex structures.
