Student answer (Band 6.0)

What people wear nowadays is indeed influenced by the fashion trends undergoing worldwide. This could be because of the easier reach and influence social media withholds and also could be due to the affection human have towards western culture. Although the modern fashion consists of lots of options and season specific clothing, it could turn out to be a threat towards the traditional and cultural attire.

The fashion trend which is followed in the universal scale appears numerously in the social media platforms that people use. And, as they find it appealing, they can easily get them through online shopping and prompt logistics. This is the major cause that makes global fashion trends actually global. Another reason might be the normal human attitude of copying the ones whom they are attracted to. Celebrities, who are idol for public, do follow fashion trends and which is why people tend to do the same as well.

I think the influence of global fashion trends in normal people's lives is rather a negative development than a positive one. The modern clothing would provide a lot of options to select from and also provide other benefilts like easy mobility and season specific clothes like thick woollen and windproof jackets which can be a better option in cold climates, for example, in himalayas of nepal. However, the new fashion is a direct threat to our traditional attire. For instance, daura suruwal and dhaka topi are source of our identity. This cultural dress make up known as nepalese in the world. That's way, modern fashion would make a negative development.

In conclusion, whilst the global fashion trends are taking up the market by storm, I think we should preserve out culture by wearing what our ancestors have passed on to us.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both parts of the question: you explain the influence through social media, online shopping and logistics, and celebrity imitation, then give a clear view that the development is mainly negative. The examples of seasonal clothing in Nepal and the daura suruwal and dhaka topi make the discussion relevant and personal. This meets the task well, but the explanation of how fashion spreads is more developed than the evaluation of its effects. The benefits are acknowledged, yet the response moves quickly from these to cultural loss without fully explaining the wider consequences or weighing the two sides. To strengthen the response, extend each main point with a clearer explanation and make the link between global trends and declining use of traditional dress more explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining the causes, a paragraph evaluating the development, and a conclusion that restates your position. The progression from social media and celebrity influence to cultural effects is easy to follow. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, beginning a sentence with “And” and using “That’s way” to introduce the conclusion of an example do not create precise links. The final paragraph also repeats the idea that culture should be preserved rather than adding a distinct concluding insight. Use a wider range of accurate linking expressions and make references between sentences clearer; this would help the organisation feel more consistently controlled.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for the topic, including “global fashion trends,” “online shopping,” “season specific clothing,” “traditional attire,” and “source of our identity.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and the cultural examples add specificity. There are also attempts at less common or topic-focused language, but some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “fashion trends undergoing worldwide,” “the affection human have towards western culture,” and “fashion trend which is followed in the universal scale.” Spelling and word-form slips, including “benefilts” and “nepalese,” also reduce precision. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully so your vocabulary sounds more fluent and exact.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including a concession in “Although the modern fashion consists…” and a relative clause in “Celebrities, who are idol for public…”. The overall meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make sentences awkward. For example, “the affection human have” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “This cultural dress make up known as nepalese” has errors in agreement and sentence construction. Articles and plural forms also need attention, as in “who are idol for public.” Practise building accurate complex sentences and check agreement, articles, and clause structure. Greater consistency in these areas would make your ideas easier to read.
