Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the contemporary world, global fashion trends have impacted on several factors of the way individuals dress. People are getting aware of different global trends through social media which has a profound impact on the lives of individuals. I think this is a positive development because by following the same trend people across the globe are getting connected with each other.
The abundance of using social media and following global trends regarding fashion has a strong influence on the lives of individuals. This is because people, specially the young adults, are getting to know about these trends through various social media platforms, such as Instagram or Tiktok, and trying to incorporate several fashion styles, which has impacted on how they dress. For example, many young girls of Bangladesh are following several western celebrities on instagram which increases adaptation of western fashion trends in the recent years.
I think impact on fashion sense by global fashion trends is a positive development because individuals across the world are feeling connected with each other. By following global fashion trends, people are becoming friends over social media due to the similar interests. In addition, they are getting to know the culture and traditions of each other which plays a significant role in spreading traditions across several countries. For example, people of countries in Europe are getting to know about pohela boishakh, which is a cultural festival in Bangladesh, through their Bangladeshi friends over social media. Consequently, residents of countries such as France or Spain are feeling more connected with the Bangladeshi people.
In conclusion, globalisation of fashion has become a strong influcene on people's live due to increasing usage of social media. I firmly believe that this is a positive development as people across the world are feeling more connected than before.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both parts of the question: you explain social media’s role in spreading fashion and clearly state that you see this as positive because it connects people and encourages cultural exchange. The examples of Bangladeshi young women following Western celebrities and Europeans learning about Pohela Boishakh are relevant. However, the explanation of how fashion itself creates connection is not fully developed: the essay moves from similar clothing interests to friendship and cultural learning without showing the link in much detail. The discussion also focuses almost entirely on social media, so other ways global fashion spreads are not considered. Develop the causal explanation and extend one example to make the argument more convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs explaining the influence and your opinion, and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress logically, and examples are placed alongside the points they support. This meets the lower-band expectations and shows some features of stronger organisation. However, links between ideas can feel mechanical: “In addition” and “Consequently” signal relationships, but the reasoning between fashion, friendship and cultural awareness could be made more explicit. There is also repetition of “global fashion trends,” “social media,” and “people across the world,” particularly in the introduction and conclusion. Use clearer referencing and vary transitions so the progression feels more natural.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “global fashion trends,” “incorporate,” “cultural festival,” and “traditions,” and the meaning remains clear. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “plays a significant role.” However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “impacted on several factors of the way,” “abundance of using social media,” and “increases adaptation.” Spelling and capitalisation slips such as “influcene,” “Tiktok,” and “instagram” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural combinations and check spelling and proper nouns carefully; this will make the vocabulary more precise without requiring unnecessarily complex wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses with “because” and “which,” and most sentences communicate the intended meaning. Some grammatical errors remain, but they rarely prevent understanding. For example, “people are getting aware” needs a different construction, while “which has impacted on how they dress” has an unclear reference because it follows a long phrase. In “people of countries in Europe are getting to know,” the sentence structure is awkward, and “people’s live” has an incorrect plural form. Review article use, agreement, and clause reference, and simplify sentences when several ideas are joined. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen control.
