Student answer (Band 5.5)

Fashion is changing day by day nowadays and people tends to adopt that latest fashion as soon as possible. There are several reasons why fashion sense is turning on 180 degrees globally. In this essay, i will discuss about its reasons and will give my concerns about this change either it is positive or a negative developement.

Nowadays, everyone follows social media celebrities and wants to become a star. Brands pay to them to and also give dresses to these stars to promote their clothing articles. In this way, their followers buy the same sort of stuff for them and with every passing day , their preferences fluctuates. I know one of my friends personally who follows a social media influencer and he use to buy such type of clothes for him which that star use to wear. So, to be kept updated with the dressing sense of social media influencers , people buy clothes of same kind.

Secondly , in comparison of local clothing shops , global brands have the same price these days and these brands kept themselves up to date with the latest dressing sense. So people take more interest on brands against local shops due to almost same price.

As far as my concern is related, i think that it is a negative development because fashion trends use to change day by day and it is totally wastiage of money and time as well in the markets to buy the clothes even if you have a dress at home which you weared for only one time. It is better to save that money for some future use.

In conclusion , social media is the main reason why people are influenced by global fashion and it should be stop as soon as possible there will be no money left for future use.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the question: you explain the influence of social-media celebrities and global brands, and you clearly state that you view the development negatively. The example of your friend buying clothes worn by an influencer helps make the first reason concrete. However, the explanation of global brands is brief, and the negative effects are mainly reduced to wasting money and time. The conclusion introduces the idea that the trend “should be stop,” but this recommendation is not fully explained or supported. To strengthen the response, develop each reason with a clearer chain of cause and effect, and explain more fully why the influence is harmful or whether it has any benefits.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two paragraphs explaining causes, a paragraph giving your opinion, and a conclusion. Sequencing expressions such as “Secondly” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main stages. However, some links feel mechanical, and the conclusion repeats the social-media point without bringing the reasons together. Within paragraphs, connections are occasionally unclear—for example, the move from brands having similar prices to people preferring them over local shops needs a fuller explanation. Improve progression by using clearer links between claims and examples, and make each paragraph develop one central point before moving to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “global brands,” “social media influencer,” “followers,” and “preferences,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural, such as “fashion sense is turning on 180 degrees,” “clothing articles,” and “same sort of stuff.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “developement” and “wastiage,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise, natural expressions and avoid repeating broad terms such as “fashion” and “clothes.” Learning topic-specific collocations and checking spelling would make your argument clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a relative clause in “clothes … which that star use to wear” and a conditional idea beginning “even if.” However, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction occur across the response. Examples include “people tends,” “he use to buy,” and “it should be stop”; the final sentence also joins ideas in a way that makes the relationship unclear. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, particularly the use of lowercase “i” and spaces before commas. Review subject–verb agreement and verb forms, then edit each sentence for a clear grammatical structure. More accurate complex sentences would improve control.
