Student answer (Band 6.0)

Golobal fashion has become extremely influential due to social media and celebrity culture. Nowadays people like to share their branded clothes and daily lifestyle on social media to impress others. Although many people found this very usefull to express their daily life, But I beleive this is negative development in the society.

In today's world most of the people spend major portion of their day scrolling instagram and other social media apps, where they often see social media influencors showing their fancy lifestyle. Public often get influenced by their fashion sense and tries to mimic their fashion style. For example a social media influencor Hania Amir in Pakistan randomly posted a reel of her carrying a pillow style bag, people liked that concept so much that in the next few months we saw half of the womens in Pakistan carrying the same bag. Therefore social media has the main role in the development of Global fashion.

While most people argue that this is positibe development as people in rural areas where there is almost very limited knowledge about what kind of fashion is currently trending, due to social media and global fashion they are know more aware and can express themselves better than before. But I personally beleive that this wave of global fashion and social media has made the lives of middle class very difficult due to the fact that non-previliged households cannot afford the same luxury clothes or lifestyle that we often see on social media but the society pressure make it harder for them to match the same fashion standard.

In conclusion, Although social media has led to the development of global fashion and more people and following the trend, however underprivileged households are getting affected due to this.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both parts of the question: you explain social media and influencers as drivers of global fashion, and you clearly judge the trend negatively because it creates pressure on households that cannot afford fashionable goods. The example of Hania Amir’s bag helps make the influence concrete. Your discussion also acknowledges a possible benefit for people in rural areas, showing some balance. However, that positive point is only briefly stated, and the negative impact could be developed further with a clearer explanation of how social pressure affects people’s choices or wellbeing. The conclusion repeats your position but could synthesise the reasons more precisely. This is a relevant response with a clear stance, though some ideas are less fully supported than others.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining how trends spread, a paragraph considering benefits and drawbacks, and a conclusion. The progression from social media exposure to imitation, then to financial pressure, is generally easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “For example,” “Therefore,” and “In conclusion.” At times, however, connections feel mechanical or the relationship between ideas is unclear. The third paragraph begins with “While most people argue,” but the contrast is lengthy and the main negative point arrives late. The conclusion’s “Although … however” combines two contrasting linkers unnecessarily. Clearer topic sentences and more precise referencing would make the progression smoother and cohesion less noticeable.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “celebrity culture,” “mimic,” “trending,” “underprivileged households,” and “society pressure.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and the example is described with relevant fashion-related language. There are also several spelling errors, including “Golobal,” “usefull,” “influencors,” and “positibe,” alongside some imprecise or unnatural expressions such as “daily lifestyle” and “the development of Global fashion.” These do not prevent understanding, but they limit the accuracy and polish of the vocabulary. Aim to check spelling carefully and choose more natural collocations, particularly when describing social influence and financial hardship.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a concession beginning “Although many people…” and a longer contrast beginning “While most people argue…”. Meaning is generally clear, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “people … tries” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “half of the womens … carrying” needs a plural noun and a complete verb construction. The opening also has faulty punctuation and capitalisation in “But I beleive,” while the final sentence combines “Although” with “however” in a way that disrupts the sentence structure. Some long sentences would benefit from being divided or reorganised. More consistent agreement, sentence boundaries, and control of subordinate clauses would improve accuracy while preserving your range.
