Student answer (Band 5.5)

The influence of global fashion on people's lives is due to globalization. Nowadays, we have whole world in our hands in the form of mobile phone. In the era of social media everything goes viral in just a minute. If we talk about people dressing today, it is most influence by social media and i think it is the top trend of social media. So whatever people see on internet they become inspire from them and want to adopt that trend. Some people said that it is positive development and some said it is negative but in my opinion, it has both development. Positive development is in the sense like nowadays global fashion trend make everything easy for us. We can easily find dress for us for any event according to global fashion and make ourself happy and cool.

On the other hand, in the race of global fashion trend on social media we are forgetting our culture and tradition which is the part of our society and the other thing is that we are creating difficulties for others who are not welling to follow these trends. It will be huge cause of inequality. For example, we had a farewell party in our university. In which some students follow trends and wear very expensive dresses but it made others student guilty because they donot afford it. In the last i will say that we should keep balance in our life. Do not follow trends blindly.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the question: you explain the influence of social media and globalisation, and give a balanced view before concluding that people should not follow trends blindly. The university farewell example also supports your concern about expense and inequality. However, the explanation of how fashion became influential is brief, and the positive side is less developed: saying trends help people find suitable clothes and feel “happy and cool” would benefit from a specific example or clearer explanation. The cultural impact is relevant but could be linked more directly to people’s lives. The response is five words below the required minimum, so it does not meet the task’s length requirement; use the extra space to develop these points.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: it introduces the topic, presents a positive point, contrasts it with disadvantages, and ends with a recommendation. Connectors such as “On the other hand” and “For example” help signal the relationship between ideas. However, the progression within the first paragraph is sometimes unclear, particularly where the discussion moves from globalisation to social media and then to the benefits of fashion. Some linking phrases are mechanical, and references such as “them” in “become inspire from them” do not clearly identify what is being referred to. A clearer paragraph break between the explanation of influence and your evaluation, plus more precise links between claims and examples, would make the argument easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “global fashion,” “social media,” “culture and tradition,” and “inequality.” There are also attempts to express more specific ideas, such as “follow trends blindly.” However, word choice and collocation are often imprecise or repetitive: “top trend of social media,” “both development,” and “huge cause of inequality” do not express your meaning naturally. Several forms are also inaccurate, including “influence” where “influenced” is needed and “welling” for “willing.” These choices do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall argument, but a more precise range of expressions would improve clarity and flexibility. Practise common collocations for fashion, influence, affordability, and social pressure.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple and longer sentences, including a conditional-style example and contrastive structures. The main message is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “it is most influence” has an incorrect verb form, “some students follow trends and wear” shifts awkwardly in tense, and “others student” has a number-agreement error. Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention: “In which some students…” is a fragment, while “In the last i will say” is not correctly punctuated or capitalised. Aim to build accurate complex sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries during revision.
