Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the modern era, people mostly dressed according to the global fashion trend. The global fashion has become a great influence on people's lives through the social media. In my opinion this is a negative development because this can create environmental pollution.
The main reason that global fashion become such a strong influence on one's lives is due to the social media. Most of the people use social medias like facebook, instagram and tiktok. When one person start to wear something new then other people also start to copy them and this become trend. As a result, there can also create an unhealthy competition between the people, which can lead to conflict also. For example, a Cristiano Ronaldo featuring the nike brand t-shirt ad has became viral on the social media and because of that most of the people bought t-shirt from that same brand.
In my opinion, following the each and every trend can cause great effect on environment. If each member from the house follows the trend then there will be a lot of products in each house, which can contribute to the degradtion of environment. As a result, world will be greatly polluted in the future. For example, if member from each house buy the clothes whenever fashion trend come, then obviously in near future the world will be greatly affected. In addition, this trend can also cause great effect on the low- income people.
In conclusion, people are mainly influenced by global fashion trends through the social medias. In my view, it is a negative development because this trend can cause great effect on the environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both parts of the question: social media is identified as the main source of global fashion’s influence, and you clearly judge the development negatively because of environmental harm. The Ronaldo/Nike example supports the influence point, while the discussion of frequent clothing purchases relates to pollution. However, the explanation of how trends spread is brief, and the environmental argument relies on repeated general claims rather than showing clearly how fast-changing fashion increases waste or production. The final point about effects on low-income people is introduced but not explained. Develop these ideas with a specific cause-and-effect explanation and support each main point with a relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs on the influence and its effects, and a conclusion that restates your position. Linking phrases such as “As a result,” “For example,” and “In addition” help readers follow the argument. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For instance, “As a result, there can also create an unhealthy competition” does not clearly connect the copying of trends to the environmental argument, and the low-income point appears abruptly at the end of its paragraph. The conclusion repeats the introduction rather than bringing the main reasoning together. Use clearer references and transitions, and ensure each paragraph develops one connected line of reasoning.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “global fashion trends,” “social media,” “unhealthy competition,” and “environmental pollution,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, especially “great effect” and “trend.” Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or imprecise, such as “social medias,” “degradtion of environment,” and “a Cristiano Ronaldo featuring the nike brand t-shirt ad.” These choices make parts of the explanation less natural, even though the intended meaning can usually be inferred. Build a wider set of precise terms for clothing consumption and environmental impact, and check spelling, word forms, and natural collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “If each member from the house follows the trend…” and clauses introduced by “because” and “which.” This gives the response some variety, and the overall meaning is usually clear. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction recur: “global fashion become,” “When one person start,” and “this become trend” need corrected verb forms and article use. The sentence “As a result, there can also create…” is missing a clear subject, while “has became” uses an incorrect participle. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and revise longer sentences to ensure each clause has a clear subject and verb.
