Student answer (Band 6.0)

By various aspects, people's way of dress style has been continuously changing by global fashion trends.Global fashion make a great impact on people's lives in many ways.It has both positive as well as negative development.

On the one hand, by developing fashion sense in people's lives can change their looks and give them more confidence.People get confident when they look presentable. When people wear fashionable clothes that suit their personalities, they may feel more comfortable. For example, young people often follow international fashion trends through social media and choose clothes that reflect their personal style. Moreover, social media makes it easier for people to discover new styles from different countries, which increases the pop

On the other hand, global fashion can have negative effects. Many people spend too much money on expensive clothes simply to follow the latest trends. This can create financial pressure, especially among students and people with low incomes.Futhermore, some individuals may feel insecure about their appearence when they compare themselves with celebrities and influencers online.

In my opinion, global fashion is a positive development overall, provided that people follow trends according to their preferences and financial situations.Fashion allows people to express themselves, but they should not feel pressured to buy new clothes frequently.

In conclusion, global fashion has become influential mainly because of social media, celebrities and international brands. Although it can lead to unnecessary spending and insecurity, I believe its benefits outweigh its drawbracks when people make sensible choices

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the question: you identify social media, celebrities and international brands as sources of global fashion’s influence, and give a clear view that its benefits outweigh its drawbacks. The discussion of confidence and self-expression is relevant, as are the concerns about spending and insecurity. However, the explanation of how fashion became influential is brief, and the example about young people is not fully developed; the paragraph also ends abruptly at “increases the pop”. Your position is clear, but some ideas need fuller explanation or a specific example to show their effects. The response is also 12 words below the required minimum, so adding a developed example or explanation would help meet the task requirement as well as strengthen the argument.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, contrasting body paragraphs, an opinion paragraph and a conclusion. “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” make the shift between benefits and drawbacks easy to follow, while “In my opinion” signals your position. However, some connections are mechanical, and the first body paragraph is interrupted by the unfinished phrase “which increases the pop”, weakening progression and leaving the point unclear. The conclusion repeats ideas from the opinion paragraph rather than adding a concise synthesis. To improve, complete each point before moving on, use clearer links between cause and effect, and ensure that each paragraph develops one central idea in a logical sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “global fashion trends”, “financial pressure”, “personal style” and “express themselves”. These phrases communicate the main ideas, and terms such as “influencers” and “international brands” are relevant to the topic. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, however: “people's way of dress style” and “developing fashion sense in people's lives” do not sound natural, while “drawbracks” is misspelled. There are also spelling errors in “Futhermore” and “appearence”. These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision. Aim to learn common collocations for clothing and influence, and proofread spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “provided that people follow trends according to their preferences” and a subordinate clause beginning “when they compare themselves”. Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “global fashion make” has subject–verb disagreement, and “By various aspects, people's way of dress style has been continuously changing by…” has an unclear and faulty sentence structure. Missing spaces after full stops and commas also make several sentences run together. Practise forming clear subject–verb sentences and checking agreement, clause structure and punctuation. More consistently accurate sentences, alongside your attempts at complex forms, would strengthen control.
