Student answer (Band 6.0)

There are mixed opinions about how much global fashion has impact our lives. Nowadays the way people present themselves is highly inspired by the global trends. It has influenced people's life in variety of ways. I believe this is a negative development and I will explain in following paragraphs.

People often argue that with the development of internet everything has become so easy. As we can observe the trends and fashion of another country from the comfort of our home. In recent years, with the boom of films, movies the fashion industry has also continued to grow. People get inspired by new global trends and wanted to adopt them. For instance paris fashion week started from one country but is now taking place in many other due to its popularity and demand.

One of another major contributing factor includes media. People see and get inspired by what media shows them. There are many influencers and filmstars that are promoting fashion trends. The international companies hire them as ambassadors to promote their products. I believe it is a negavtive development because we are leaving our own culture and traditions. The style and fashion actors are promoting is not taken from our culture, tradition or religion. It has placed alot of pressure and bad influence on our society.

In conclusion, media and influencers has played a major role in bringing the global fashion to local community. People get inspired by these designers and brands which are not resonating our culture and tradition. In result, people are becoming farway from their own values and adopting the tradition of others.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the question: you identify the internet, films, media and influencers as drivers of global fashion, and you clearly state that you consider its influence negative. The examples of international fashion events and companies using celebrities are relevant. However, the explanation of how these factors shape people’s lives remains general, and the negative effects are mainly framed as a loss of culture and pressure on society. Explain more specifically how trends reach audiences and give a concrete example of their impact on individuals or communities. The claim that fashion is “not taken from our culture” also needs qualification, since global and local styles can influence one another. More developed support would make the response more complete and convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The first body paragraph focuses on internet access and entertainment, while the next turns to media and the negative consequences, so the reader can follow the main progression. Linking phrases such as “For instance” and “In conclusion” help signal relationships between ideas. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. “One of another major contributing factor” does not introduce the point smoothly, and the conclusion largely repeats the body paragraph rather than drawing the ideas together. The relationship between the examples and the claim about cultural loss could also be made more explicit. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example directly to the point it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “global trends,” “fashion industry,” “influencers,” “ambassadors,” and “culture and traditions.” These terms make the subject clear, and the meaning is generally understandable. However, several word-choice and collocation problems reduce precision: “fashion has impact our lives,” “boom of films, movies,” “bad influence,” and “not resonating our culture” are awkward or inaccurate. There are also spelling errors such as “negavtive” and “farway,” alongside informal or imprecise wording such as “alot.” Aim for natural collocations and avoid repeating broad terms like “people,” “fashion,” and “culture.” For example, describe how trends “shape consumer choices” or “influence clothing preferences” to express the ideas more precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning “As we can observe” and “because,” and the overall meaning remains clear. Some sentences are controlled, such as “People get inspired by new global trends and wanted to adopt them,” though the tense shifts within it. Other errors occur in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction: “fashion has impact our lives,” “media and influencers has played,” and “from the comfort of our home.” The fragment “As we can observe the trends…” also needs to be joined to the preceding sentence or rewritten as a complete sentence. Review subject–verb agreement and keep verb tenses consistent, then check that each sentence has a complete main clause. Greater accuracy across these structures would strengthen the response.
