Student answer (Band 6.0)
Over the past few decades, people are buying alot of attires whether they need or not. This has been a recent concern of many young people, all over the world. Many people believe that trend of buying new clothes should be normalised, but I firmly believe that it has alot drawbacks which are mostly related to environmental concerns.
Firstly, global fashion has a huge influence to the every individual of the world through digital platforms. It is one of the main issue that obsessed every people to buy clothes. Every reel scrolling person in instagram, facebook, and tiktok somehow reached to the clothing advertisement that forced them to buy new clothes. For instance, local stores in kathmandu hire social media influencer to advertise their clothes so they can earn more customers. This is how most of the people are influenced by global faschion.
Secondly, this trend of buying clothes can impact both individual and environment. This is because many people from middle class family are not able to buy expensive clothes on the spot and they try to convince their parents to buy expensive clothes. Similarly, every year lots of non-biodegradable clothes are abandoned into the environment that emit carbon and polluted the environment. For example, the recent reasearch shows that most of the environmental pollution is caused by abandoned clothes and the fiber that is used to prepare the clothes. In african continent, there is a store of abandoned clothes that is non-decomposable and it produces more than 10% carbon emission.
To sum up, we often influenced by global fashion to buy clothes but we should equally carefull about our financial condition and environmental issues.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both parts of the question: you explain how social media and influencers spread fashion trends, and you present a clear negative view based on financial and environmental effects. The Kathmandu influencer example makes the mechanism more concrete. However, the discussion of the effects is unevenly developed: the pressure on middle-class families is mentioned but not explained in detail, while the environmental point relies on a broad, unsupported claim about pollution and carbon emissions. The response would be stronger if it explained more precisely how global trends reach consumers and supported each consequence with a credible, relevant example. Your position is clear, but the conclusion could restate the main reasons more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure, moving from an introduction to two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The sequence from social-media influence to personal and environmental consequences is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “To sum up” help identify the stages of the argument. However, some connections are mechanical, and the second body paragraph combines two effects without clearly separating or developing them. The opening claim about buying clothes also does not lead smoothly into the explanation of digital platforms. Use clearer links between cause and effect, and make each paragraph’s central point explicit before adding examples. More precise referencing would also help readers follow claims such as “this trend.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “digital platforms,” “clothing advertisement,” “non-biodegradable,” and “carbon emission,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “social media influencer.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “influence to the every individual,” “reached to the clothing advertisement,” and “a store of abandoned clothes.” Spelling errors such as “faschion,” “reasearch,” and “alot” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully; a more precise range would help express the argument without relying on repeated general terms such as “clothes” and “environment.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a cause-and-effect structure with “This is because” and a relative clause in “the fiber that is used to prepare the clothes.” Meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “people are buying” is not the most suitable tense for a general trend, “every individual of the world” has an incorrect article pattern, and “we often influenced” is missing an auxiliary verb. There are also agreement and sentence-construction problems, as in “It is one of the main issue” and “the recent research shows.” Work on subject–verb agreement, articles, and consistent verb forms, while continuing to practise complex sentences with accurate clause structure.
