Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this period of modernity, people style themselves according to the world fashion trends. In this contemporary world, global fasion has became such a strong influence on people's life because of the social media and the globalization between nations. I believe this is a negative development. This essay will further discuss my views for favoring the negative impact and thus will lead to a logical conclusion.
Analyzing the statement I believe that, social media have now became such a huge role in everyone's life because of this people are influenced in many ways. They made their idols from different nations and cultures. They want to become like them. To site an example, people are now using phone applications like instagram and tiktok. Globalization is an other big reason fot the strong influence on people's life. Connection btween nations made this possible like; trading etc
I feel this development may have some negative impact on people's mind. Peope may struggle with the financial pressure. Now a days, public follow these trends. The one who can afford, spend a large amount of money on dresses can feel confident, but who are already struggling with their financial condition, may have negative impact on them. They may feel insure or lose their confidence level. Another reason is, people can forget their own customs, traditions because of the strong impact and society's pressure.
In conclusion, in my opinion this is a negative development because it creates insecurities and financial problems. I feel that aforementioned points are strongly supporting my viewpoints.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both parts of the prompt: you identify social media and globalisation as reasons fashion spreads, and you clearly state that you see this as negative. The discussion of financial pressure and possible loss of cultural traditions is relevant, and the example of Instagram and TikTok helps illustrate the first cause. However, some points are asserted rather than explained. For instance, the link between international trade and fashion influence is left unfinished, and the effect on customs is not supported with a specific example. To strengthen the response, explain how online exposure or international brands change people’s choices, then develop each negative consequence with a concrete illustration.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining causes, a paragraph outlining disadvantages, and a conclusion that restates your position. This gives the reader an overall coherent route through the answer. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The opening of the second paragraph, “Analyzing the statement,” does not clearly signal the move to causes, while “Connection between nations made this possible like; trading etc” is incomplete and interrupts progression. The conclusion repeats the main points without drawing them together. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each cause to its effect; also ensure that examples and explanations form complete, logically linked sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “global fashion,” “social media,” “financial pressure,” “customs,” and “traditions.” These choices make your main ideas understandable, and phrases such as “lose their confidence” communicate the personal consequences you have in mind. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, such as “made their idols,” “strong impact,” and “confidence level.” Spelling errors, including “fasion,” “fot,” and “Peope,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise expressions and check spelling carefully; for example, describe people as “emulating celebrities” and say that trends “exert a strong influence.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a cause-and-effect construction with “because of” and a contrast between people who can afford fashionable clothes and those who cannot. However, control of verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries is inconsistent. Examples include “global fashion has became,” “social media have now became,” and “people's life”; these should use the correct verb form and agreement. The sentence beginning “The one who can afford” also shifts awkwardly into “spend” and “can feel.” Some punctuation creates run-ons or fragments, particularly the final statement about trading. Practise building accurate complex sentences and proofreading each clause for a clear subject and matching verb.
