Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, the way people dress is strongly influenced by global fashin trends. People from different countries oftern wear similar styles of clothes because of social media, celebrities and internation clothing brands. there are serveal reason why global fashion become so popular, in my opinion this is a positive development, although is also have disadvatages. The reasons for my stance will be desctribed into following paragraphs.

To begin with, there are many reasons why global fashion become more popular. The main reason is growth of social media and internet. Many people can easily see the latest clothing styles through platforms such as instagram, Youtube and Facebook. Moreover, famous actors, singers and sports player influence the way of people choose their clothing fashion. Many people want to follow these celebrities and wear similar outfits. Another reason is that many international clothing brand open thier mall and outlet in different countries and people can spend thier expences on buying this types of cloths and follow clothing trends. For example, a young peopel in india can follow the same fashion trend as someone in the United States by watching online videos and buying similar cloths from outlets and malls.

In my view, global fashion is mainly a positive development because it gives people more choice and allowe them to express thier personalities. People can explore many different style from other countries and choose clothes that match their interests. Moreover, international fashion brands provides a wide ranges of designs at different prices, making fashionable clothing available to more people. For instance, many college students can combine modern jeans and t-shirts with traditional indian clothes to create own styles.

In conclusion, global fashion has become more popular as the growth of social media and internation brands. Although it can engourage unnecessary spending, i consider that it create many jobs for people when internanational clothing brands open thier shops and mall in countries.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the question: you explain how social media, celebrities and international brands spread fashion, and you state that you see this as mainly positive. The examples of a young person in India following US trends and students combining modern and traditional clothes help make your points relevant. However, the positive effects are developed more clearly than the disadvantages, which appear only briefly in the introduction and conclusion as unnecessary spending. The conclusion also introduces job creation without explaining this point in the main discussion. To strengthen the response, develop the drawbacks or explain why the benefits outweigh them, and support each main claim with a fuller explanation or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs explaining the causes and benefits, and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress in a sensible order, and linking phrases such as “To begin with,” “Moreover,” and “For instance” help guide the reader. However, some connections are mechanical, and the conclusion does not fully follow from the body: it mentions job creation, a point not developed earlier. The opening also previews the discussion in an awkward, formulaic way. Improve cohesion by linking each example directly to the claim it supports and ensuring the conclusion summarises the ideas already established. More varied referencing and transitions would make the progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “global fashion trends,” “international clothing brands,” “express their personalities,” and “traditional Indian clothes.” These choices communicate the main ideas, but the range and precision are limited by repeated general terms such as “clothes,” “fashion,” and “people,” as well as inaccurate word forms and collocations. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “fashin,” “oftern,” “thier,” and “internanational.” These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce accuracy and control. Build a more precise range for discussing influence and consumer behaviour, and proofread spelling and collocations. For example, use “fashion trends spread” rather than “fashion become more popular.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “because it gives people more choice” and a contrast clause beginning “Although it can encourage unnecessary spending.” The overall meaning is usually clear, but some errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction remain. Examples include “global fashion become,” “brands provides,” “a wide ranges,” and “although is also have disadvantages.” The final sentence also has an unclear grammatical relationship between the clause about spending and the claim about jobs. Work on matching subjects and verbs, forming complete clauses after conjunctions, and checking singular and plural forms. Greater accuracy in these patterns would make your ideas easier to follow.
