Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, people’s clothing choices are increasingly influenced by international fashion trends. This is mainly due to the growing popularity of social media and celebrities. In my opinion, this is a negative development because it encourages unnecessary spending and reduces people’s interest in traditional clothing.
On the first hand, mostly in today's people wear dress's by influenced global fashion because they believe by wearing dress's of new fashion show they rich and educated. Mostly people buy expensive dress because of their favourite actors, singers or influencers wear the dresse's. Childrens are also addicted with this era because they also wear same expensive dress's like their favourite influencers and actors.
On the other hand, global fashion trends can have several negative effects on people’s lives. Firstly, people often spend too much money on fashionable clothes to follow the latest trends, which can create financial problems for those with limited incomes. Moreover, many young people feel pressure to wear branded clothes in order to fit in with their friends. As a result, they may feel less confident about themselves if they cannot afford expensive outfits. Furthermore, the popularity of international fashion can reduce people’s interest in traditional clothes and cultural values. For example, many young people prefer Western outfits over traditional clothing on special occasions. Therefore, global fashion trends can negatively affect both people’s financial situations and cultural identity.
In conclusion, although global fashion trends have become popular due to social media and celebrities, I believe this is a negative development because it encourages unnecessary spending, creates social pressure and reduces people’s interest in traditional clothing

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your response addresses both parts of the question: you explain the influence of social media and celebrities, and clearly state that the development is negative. The points about overspending, pressure to wear branded clothes, and declining interest in traditional clothing are relevant, with the example of young people choosing Western outfits on special occasions. However, the explanation of how fashion became influential is less fully developed than your discussion of its effects. The first body paragraph gives reasons such as wanting to appear “rich and educated” and copying celebrities, but these ideas are difficult to follow and would benefit from clearer explanation or a specific example. Develop this cause-and-effect link more fully to make the response more balanced and convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay has a recognisable overall structure, with an introduction, body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the main position remains consistent. The second body paragraph progresses through several effects using “Firstly,” “Moreover,” and “Furthermore,” which helps the reader follow the argument. However, the opening phrase “On the first hand” is not an appropriate counterpart to “On the other hand,” and the first body paragraph is difficult to follow because its ideas are not clearly connected. The transition from the causes of global fashion to its negative effects could also be made more explicit. Use paragraph openings that accurately signal each paragraph’s purpose, and connect each supporting point to the central argument rather than relying mainly on sequencing words.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “international fashion trends,” “financial problems,” “social pressure,” and “cultural identity.” These phrases help communicate the main argument, and the later discussion shows a useful range beyond basic clothing terms. However, word choice and spelling are often inaccurate in the first body paragraph: “dress’s,” “dresse’s,” and “Childrens” are incorrect forms, while “wear dress’s by influenced global fashion” is difficult to understand. Some expressions, such as “new fashion show,” do not clearly convey the intended meaning. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully; this will make your ideas easier to understand and strengthen the overall vocabulary range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms. For example, “Although global fashion trends have become popular due to social media and celebrities, I believe this is a negative development” uses a subordinate clause effectively, and the later paragraph includes clear cause-and-effect structures. However, some sentences in the first body paragraph contain grammatical errors that make the meaning unclear, as in “people wear dress’s by influenced global fashion” and “they believe by wearing dress’s of new fashion show they rich and educated.” There are also errors in plural forms and sentence construction. Practise building accurate subject–verb patterns and clauses, then check articles, verb forms and sentence boundaries. More consistent control would allow your complex structures to support the argument clearly.
