Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear negative view overall and support it with relevant concerns: spending on costly clothing, discomfort, and the decline of local fashion and cultural dress. The example of sarees helps connect the discussion to a specific cultural change. You also acknowledge a benefit—that global trends expose people to other cultures and a wider variety of clothes—so both parts of the question are addressed. However, the explanation of how global fashion became influential is largely missing; the essay mainly describes its effects rather than explaining the causes, such as social media, advertising, or international brands. Several claims, including that revealing designs make women feel insecure, are asserted rather than carefully explained. Develop the causes and support each main point more clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two paragraphs presenting disadvantages, a paragraph acknowledging a benefit, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “To conclude” make the stages easy to identify. However, progression is somewhat mechanical, and repeated links such as “Moreover” and “Due to this” do not always show the precise relationship between ideas. Some connections are unclear—for example, the move from expensive clothing to discomfort, and then to feeling insecure at social gatherings. The final paragraph also introduces a positive point briefly without integrating it into the overall argument. Use clearer cause-and-effect links, develop each paragraph around one central point, and make references such as “this trend” more specific.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “global fashion trends,” “local brands,” “cultural dress,” and “international clothes,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “revealing” and “excessive exposure.” However, the range is limited by repeated use of “fashion trends,” “clothes,” and “people,” while several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unnatural: “satisfy their scarcity,” “spend high budget,” “disturb their purse,” and “drop of cultural dress.” Spelling and word-form slips such as “Armaani” and “clothed” also reduce precision. Aim for more natural collocations and vary repeated terms—for example, use “consumer spending,” “local designers,” or “traditional attire” where appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “because” and “which,” and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, errors occur across sentence forms and often make the writing less clear. Examples include “this trend cost them,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “global fashion trends gives them,” which has the same agreement problem. In “As an epitome, back in time women used to wear saree,” article and plural forms are missing, while “leads people to buy” does not fit the sentence’s structure. Punctuation and capitalisation are also inconsistent, as in “Firstly, Many.” Practise accurate agreement, articles, and clause construction, then proofread each sentence for a complete, correctly linked structure.
