Student answer (Band 6.0)
The world has become a global village these days. People have access to almost everything across the globe. Our habits and patterns have greatly changed and this change can have both positive and negative impacts. I think that global fashion trends following is a kind of negative development and in this essay I am going to explain my opinion with examples.
Firstly, the globalization has blurred the cultural preferences for clothing. For instance, there used to be the particular dress code for eastern and western societies which were the part of cultural practices. But these days, no one bothers to hold to the culture, instead people like to be called as fashionable rather than traditional.
The second reason for this negative development is that people have become restless. Fashion was introduced for entertainment and the dressing linked with the comfort but the people have converted it into a kind of complex. The urge to look more beautiful than others and a continous need to be appraised has shifted that concern, for eample. This has put people on a continuous struggle to be more stylish and has created an inheriorty-superiority feeling.
While looking on the other side of the picture, if people see the global fashion trends as the part of a society's cultural practices and rather than being impressed by them and blindly following them, they should pay attention to the aspects which can be improved in their own culture. People can also promote their own cultural values and introduce them to the woorld. In this way it will have a positive impact on their own growth.
Overall, the diminished distnction across the cultural values and customs and the constant need for approval has led to the negative impact of globalization on people's lives. However if the Fashion is followed sensibly, then it can have positive effects too.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you consider global fashion a negative development, while acknowledging that it can have benefits if followed thoughtfully. You address both how fashion influences people and whether this is positive or negative, with relevant points about cultural clothing practices, pressure to look attractive, and the possibility of sharing cultural values internationally. However, the explanation of how global fashion became influential is less direct than your discussion of its effects. Some ideas also need fuller support: for example, explain how exposure through media, brands, or travel spreads trends, and give a specific example of the pressure to keep up with them. The final paragraph introduces a useful qualification, but its implications could be developed more clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two paragraphs presenting drawbacks, a paragraph considering a more positive approach, and a conclusion. Sequencing is generally easy to follow, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “The second reason,” and “Overall” help readers identify the stages of your argument. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some flexibility through the contrast in the fourth paragraph. To make progression more consistently smooth, connect each paragraph more explicitly to the question’s two parts, especially the causes of fashion’s influence. Some transitions are mechanical, and the long sentence beginning “While looking on the other side of the picture” is difficult to follow. Use clearer links between claims and examples, and make references such as “this concern” more precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “cultural preferences,” “dress code,” “global fashion trends,” “approval,” and “cultural values.” There are also attempts at less common phrasing, such as “blurred” cultural preferences and “continuous struggle,” which help express your ideas. However, some choices are inaccurate or unnatural, and spelling slips reduce precision: “appraised” does not fit the intended meaning as well as “admired,” while “inheriorty-superiority feeling” is unclear. Other examples include “fashion trends following,” “called as fashionable,” and “diminished distinction.” These do not prevent the main message from being understood, but they limit fluency. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully, particularly in key phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including contrast and conditional structures, as in “However if the Fashion is followed sensibly, then it can have positive effects too.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors and punctuation problems affect accuracy. For example, “there used to be the particular dress code” has an awkward article pattern, and “people like to be called as fashionable” uses an incorrect construction. The sentence beginning “While looking on the other side of the picture” also lacks a clear grammatical structure and becomes difficult to process. Review articles, prepositions, and sentence boundaries, and avoid joining several ideas into one long sentence. More consistently controlled complex sentences would strengthen this criterion.
