Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses both questions to some extent: it suggests that exposure to British people and changing lifestyles helped spread global fashion, and it recognises both benefits and drawbacks. However, the explanation of how fashion became influential remains general, and the reference to “watching the british individuals” is not explained or supported with a specific example. The positive view is also unclear: “positive feedback” is mentioned, but the benefit is not developed, while the concern about people buying clothes they cannot afford is more concrete. The opening repeats the prompt rather than establishing a clear position. To strengthen the response, state your overall view directly and explain each main point with a relevant example. The 13 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is some organisation: the response begins with an introduction, moves into an account of changing clothing habits, and ends by contrasting people who can afford fashionable clothes with those who cannot. However, the progression is difficult to follow because several ideas are crowded into one long paragraph, and the sequence from past traditions to British influence and then shopping is not clearly signposted. Connectors such as “Initially,” “After the time passes,” and “Gradually” attempt to guide the reader, but some are awkward or do not clarify the relationship between ideas. The final contrast is also confusing because “positive feedback” and “negative feedback” do not clearly express the writer’s evaluation. Use separate paragraphs for causes and effects, and make each paragraph develop one central point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some topic-related vocabulary, including “global fashion trends,” “traditional,” “lifestyle,” “design,” and “colour,” so the reader can identify the subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to interpret. For example, “positive feedback” and “negative feedback” are not suitable for describing whether a development is beneficial, and “famous for its design” does not clearly explain the appeal of fashion. Spelling errors such as “desgin,” “decrocated,” and “diffreent” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of expressions for influence, affordability, and consumer behaviour, and check spelling and natural word combinations when editing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts a few longer structures, including “when they went to the relatives house” and “although they don't have money to buy it,” but most sentences rely on simple patterns, and complex attempts are often faulty. Errors in verb forms and agreement occur frequently, as in “modern fashion has change” and “global fashion take place”; the sentence “people trends to change” also has an agreement problem. Articles and sentence construction are inconsistent, for example “in the past had not sense” and “when they goes outside.” These errors can make the reader pause or infer the intended meaning. Practise forming complete clauses with a clear subject and correctly matched verb, then check tense consistency and punctuation in each sentence.
