Student answer (Band 6.0)

People try to imitate various aspects which are influenced by famous global fashion trends. Individuals consume knowledge related to attires and the way one can style it from online platforms and it its proliferation. In my prespective, while it promotes customer choice and economic convenience, it diverts one's attention from traditional clothes being worn in the country hence it results into cultural homogenization.

In detail, people watching short clips available on social media related to fashion and accessorizing shifts their attention towards western clothes. As a result it changes their viewpoint about traditional clothes and they consider it as outdated. For instance, i used to wear apparels aligning with my culture but my attention is totally shifted to suits and blazers because i have been short videos on instagram which changed my entire point of view.

however, it helps retail stores and websites grow substanially by promoting such clothes and it helps them financially because such store often sell apparels at cheaper price in comparison to cultural clothes. Which encourages the general public to buy such clothes, further drifting from their traditions. For example, hoodies and henleys are way cheaper when compared with silk kurtas.

To conclude, people prefer copying trends set by global fashion brands and it affects their fashion sense as well. In my view it helps businesses grow significantly who prefer going along with the trend while, it creates a rift between heritage based outfits and clothes which are worn just for the sole purpose of styling.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the question: social media is presented as a route through which global fashion spreads, and you give a qualified view that it benefits businesses but weakens cultural clothing traditions. The personal example about Instagram videos and the comparison between hoodies and silk kurtas make the discussion relevant. However, the explanation of how fashion became influential is mostly limited to short clips, and the economic point is not fully connected to why people adopt global trends. Develop these ideas further—for example, explain how influencers, advertising, and international retail access repeatedly expose consumers to particular styles. A clearer, more consistently stated position would also strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress from social-media influence to commercial benefits and cultural effects, and examples help readers follow the discussion. However, some connections are awkward or unclear. The second body paragraph begins with “however,” although it introduces a benefit, and the sentence beginning “Which encourages” is a fragment rather than a clear continuation. The conclusion also combines the business benefit and cultural concern in a long, difficult-to-follow sentence. Use linking expressions that show the precise relationship between ideas, and make sure each paragraph develops one central point in a clear sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “global fashion trends,” “cultural homogenization,” “accessorizing,” and “heritage based outfits.” These choices show an attempt to discuss fashion and culture with some specificity. At times, however, word choice and collocation are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “consume knowledge related to attires,” “diverts one's attention from traditional clothes being worn,” and “drifting from their traditions.” There are also spelling errors, including “prespective” and “substanially,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural combinations such as “learn about clothing styles,” “draw attention away from traditional dress,” and “move away from traditional clothing.” Proofreading spelling and choosing precise collocations would make your meaning more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrast in the introduction and clauses beginning “because” and “while.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity and control. For example, “people watching short clips … shifts their attention” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “i have been short videos” is missing a verb form. The sentence starting “Which encourages” is incomplete, and “such store often sell” has an agreement error. Capitalisation and punctuation also need attention, particularly the lowercase “however” after a full stop and the comma before “it creates” in the conclusion. Check sentence boundaries and agreement, and revise incomplete clauses.
