Student answer (Band 5.5)

Different types of trends and activities are exercised all around the world. Fashion trend is one them and it has vast influence on the people. Social media is the main reason which plays an important role for influencing the mass people by poping up in the phones.

In recent time, people from my country started following the western culture and fashion clothes to look good, presentable and trendy. Previously I saw that in the presentation, most of the women usually wore sares as formal but nowadays they start wearing suits following the western culture. Even women use classy make up kits and products for their makeup because the glow or aura of the dresses also depends on the makeup. Sometimes the makeup products and dresses are not available in our country so they buy them from Ali baba or Amazon because the products are trending the market. Pakistani dresses are the weakness of the women and they go out of mind when they see one of the famous actress or an influencer advertises it. This attracts the girls or women the most as they also want to look beautiful alike them. Another fashion sense I found among the boys or male is wearing half pant and jackets during the winter season in recent years. This is a rare combination and it has another level of hype among the boys. The men or boys from western country mostly wear this type of dress and it is also a fashion trend.

To follow a global trend is not harm from my point of view. It accelerates the mind with joy and happiness as well as helps you being confident. If you are not following the global trend then it is counted like you are dump and you have no sense of fashion. You will be called out by old or uneducated. Sometimes, people forget the value of their own tradition and culture. In my opinion, sometimes it also a fact of wasting money. Some companies conduct malicious work by preparing duplicate products to satisfy the demand of people. It also impose jealousy and frustration among the people as well as the company owners.

Global fashion trends are changing day by day and people are trying to follow all of them. But it is not judicious thing to follow each and everything. Everyone should not run after this even it is also not cup of tea for all the developing and under developed countries.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the question: you identify social media and online shopping as ways global fashion spreads, and you give a qualified view that following trends can bring confidence and enjoyment but may also encourage waste and weaken cultural traditions. The examples about women’s clothing in Pakistan and influencers advertising products make the response relevant. However, the explanation of how fashion became influential is not consistently developed: social media is named in the introduction, but its role is not explained in detail, while several later examples describe trends rather than their causes. Your position is also somewhat mixed, since you say following trends is not harmful but then list significant disadvantages. Clarify your overall judgement and develop the strongest reasons with clearer explanation and support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure, moving from the influence of fashion to examples and then to your evaluation. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and phrases such as “In my opinion” and “But” signal a change in direction. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes loose: the discussion moves from makeup to online purchases, then to Pakistani dresses and men’s clothing without clearly showing how each example supports the main point. Some links are mechanical or unclear, including “This attracts the girls or women the most” and “It also impose jealousy,” where the reference of “this/it” is uncertain. Group related examples and use clearer topic sentences and referencing so the reader can follow the argument more smoothly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “global fashion trends,” “western culture,” “influencer,” “duplicate products,” and “tradition and culture.” These choices help communicate the subject and show attempts to use less common expressions. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning less precise: “poping up in the phones,” “the weakness of the women,” and “another level of hype” are examples. There are also spelling and form issues, such as “poping” and “sarees.” Aim for more natural academic phrasing and check that each expression conveys the intended meaning. More precise vocabulary would make your explanations clearer and less dependent on broad or informal wording.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning with “because” and “as well as,” and most of the main ideas remain understandable. However, grammatical control is uneven, with errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction. For example, “Fashion trend is one them” is missing grammatical elements, “it also impose jealousy” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, and “it also not cup of tea” lacks a necessary verb and article. The sentence beginning “If you are not following the global trend” also has an awkward conditional structure. Practise building accurate sentences with subordinate clauses, and proofread for agreement and missing words; this will help you express your ideas more reliably.
