Student answer (Band 5.5)

The way people dress today in different forms of life is inspired by the global fashion trends. In my opinion, its a positive development because in can lead an individual to grow, rise and be part of the change.

One reason is that, it can help the people to be inspire by others and to do more. For example, a person goes to a gym and is doing the trending fashion dressing so everyone would look and get idea from them. It also boosts your mood and confidence by not repeating the old same things. For instance, trying the current baggy jeans trend could make person feel more cool. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear positive opinion in the introduction and conclusion, and you offer two relevant reasons: fashion can build confidence, and social media encourages people to follow trends. The examples of baggy jeans and posting online help connect these points to everyday life. However, the task asks how global fashion became such a strong influence, and this is only partly explained: social media is mentioned, but the role of international brands, celebrities, advertising, or online access is not developed. Several claims, such as fashion helping people “grow” or “do more,” remain vague, and the gym example is not clearly linked to global influence. Explain the causes more directly and develop each reason with a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. This makes the overall arrangement coherent, and signposts such as “One reason,” “Another reason,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main stages. Within paragraphs, however, connections sometimes feel mechanical or unclear. For example, “As it could let someone resulting in appreciating you” does not clearly show how the ideas relate, while repeated “also” and “could” make the progression less smooth. The conclusion repeats the positive view but introduces “the economy” without preparing that idea earlier. Use clearer links between claim, explanation, and example, and ensure the conclusion summarises points already established.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “global fashion trends,” “baggy jeans,” “confidence,” “social media,” and “fear of missing out.” These choices make the subject clear, and the response shows some ability to discuss fashion’s social effects. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or vague, which can make meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “different forms of life,” “trending fashion dressing,” “go on with trends,” and “lead the enocomy to dress better.” Some expressions, such as “feel more cool,” are informal and imprecise for this essay. Aim for more natural combinations and precise terms, such as “follow current trends,” “influence clothing choices,” and “boost self-confidence.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple statements and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “for example,” and “by.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main position is generally understandable. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction recur. For instance, “it can help the people to be inspire” should use a passive form, while “People gets happy” has a subject–verb agreement error. In “could also made your day better,” the modal requires the base verb. The sentence beginning “As it could let someone…” is also structurally incomplete. Practise building accurate clauses first, then combine them, and check agreement and verb forms during revision.
