Student answer (Band 5.0)

Global fashion trends are effecting people's lives, clothing style and the way they dress-up. From a broad prospective, it could have have some positive and negative effects. But in my opinion it is influencing lives more in a negative manner.

A number of models, actors and other superstars are well known for thier dressings and fashions. What they wear becomes a global trend and it has strong impact on people lives in many ways.

This world wide fashion got popularity by use of social media and electronic media. And technology is in reach to everyone, so, changing trends of world fasion are seen everywhere.

When a superstar advertise something related to new fashion, his fan always love him and wanted to use and buy that thing, but it is influencing culture and thier normal living life.

It also effected people mindset of capturing new fashion. And they all are forgetting about background of thier culture.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both questions: you identify social media and electronic media as ways global fashion spreads, and you state that its influence is mostly negative. However, the response only partially develops the task. The explanation that celebrities’ clothing becomes a trend is relevant, but the effects on people and culture are asserted rather than explained with specific examples. The phrase “influencing culture and their normal living life” does not make clear what changes or why they are harmful. Your position is present, but the positive and negative effects are not meaningfully explored. The response is also below the required 250 words, which limits the opportunity to develop reasons and examples. Extend each main idea with a clear explanation and a relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: the opening gives your overall view, and the following sentences move from celebrity influence to the role of media and then to cultural effects. This gives the reader a basic sense of the topic. However, the response has no clear overall progression from explanation to evaluation, and several ideas are left disconnected. For example, “And technology is in reach to everyone” is not clearly linked to the previous sentence, while “It also effected people mindset” introduces another point without explaining its relationship to the cultural claim. Repeated use of “and” and “so” makes connections mechanical. Use distinct paragraphs for how trends spread and whether their effects are positive or negative, and connect each claim to its explanation.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “global fashion trends,” “social media,” “superstars,” and “culture,” so the general subject is clear. However, the range is limited, and several inaccurate or awkward choices make parts of the message difficult to interpret. For instance, “dressings and fashions” is not a natural way to describe what celebrities wear, and “capturing new fashion” does not clearly express adopting or following trends. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “thier,” “fasion,” and “prospective.” Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling carefully. Vocabulary such as “fashion influencers,” “follow trends,” and “cultural identity” would help you explain your ideas more accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You communicate your main opinion using mostly simple sentence patterns, and you attempt some longer structures, such as “When a superstar advertise something related to new fashion, his fan always love him and wanted to use and buy that thing.” However, this sentence contains several errors in subject–verb agreement and verb forms, which make the relationship between the ideas harder to follow. Other examples include “it has strong impact on people lives” and “It also effected people mindset,” where articles and possessive forms are missing or incorrect. The range of structures is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then build longer sentences with consistent subjects, verb forms, and possessives.
