Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, global fashion trends has a significant impact on people how they dressed. In my opinion, the profound impact of global fashion can significantly influence on people's lives. I believe that this is a negative development.

When people influenced by global fashion trends, it may disrupt local culture by introducing new things. People are trend to follow the fashion which they are watched in television, blogs or newspaper by which they wanted to look more asthetic. If people buy their necessary things such as clothes, electronics accessories, or daily needs according to global fasion, they can distract buying necessary thing from local producer. It may causes local garments or individual business to shut down their business which can further reduces countries economic development or to replace their local product by foreign product which is further disrupt local culture diversity.

People highly influenced by global fashion just by seeing advertisement. Many company invest numerous amount of money to highlight their product by advertisement. When people saw some celebrities wearing a most fashionable dress, they may encourage to buy this product even if is it very expensive. People who lived in a below poverty line are likely to face financial difficulties. But still, they wanted to purchases this product. Some people get involves to crime just for manage enough money to buy their desired things which further causes serious crime issue in a country.

In conclusion, people are nowadays highly influenced by global fashion trends and it can disrupt local economy and also it can causes serious crime just for buying desire thing. I strongly believed that, this is a negative development.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the question: you explain the influence of advertising and celebrity endorsements, and you clearly state that global fashion is a negative development. The points about pressure to buy expensive products and possible harm to local businesses are relevant. However, the explanation of how fashion became influential is narrower than the question invites: advertising is discussed, but the roles of social media, international brands, or global communication are not explored. Some consequences are also asserted rather than fully explained—for example, the link between fashion purchases and crime needs a clearer, more realistic example. Develop each main point with a specific illustration and explain the cause-and-effect connection more carefully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each body paragraph has a main focus, moving from effects on local culture and businesses to advertising and personal finances. This makes the argument generally easy to follow. However, some connections between ideas are abrupt, particularly the move from buying fashionable products to crime. Linking phrases such as “as a result” and “for instance” could clarify these relationships, while more precise referencing would prevent repetition of “this” and “it.” The conclusion repeats the main claims but could synthesise the two arguments more smoothly. Overall, the organisation is coherent, though cohesion is sometimes mechanical or unclear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “global fashion trends,” “local culture,” “advertisement,” “financial difficulties,” and “economic development.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and some less common expressions show an effort to be precise. However, inaccurate word choice, collocation, and spelling are noticeable: “people are trend to follow,” “asthetic,” “fasion,” and “numerous amount of money” are examples. Phrases such as “necessary thing” and “desired things” are also vague and repetitive. These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall argument, but they limit precision and naturalness. Check spelling carefully and learn common word partnerships for discussing consumer behaviour and fashion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “If people buy…” and clauses beginning with “When.” This gives the response some variety. However, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction occur across the essay. For example, “trends has” should be “trends have,” and “When people saw” does not fit the general present-tense argument; “When people see” would be more consistent. In “even if is it very expensive,” the clause structure is faulty, and “it can causes” should be “it can cause.” These errors sometimes make sentences awkward, although the main meaning remains understandable. Practise checking each sentence’s subject and verb, and keep tense consistent.
