Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is a popular belief that the current fashion inspiration is drawn from international trends. From my perspective, it has a bad impact on people in variety of ways.

Global fashion trends are hot topic now a days and this discusion is no more confined to women. Both sexes are greatly influenced with the international trends. The social media plays significant role in making people consume the content from across the border. This advancement is badly effecting people's life. They are becoming copy cats of what they are watching without keeping their originality.

Not just people, majority of national level trend setters in the field of fashion are also making their products according to the global fashion. This keeps them from making products for their national market which is their main audience. For example, any ready made shirt's length is getting shorter day by day which is not according to morals of modest wearing in some cultures espacially for women. But if market is floaded with premium quality desings in short lengths people will get influenced by this and compromise their own morals.

Moreover, the influencers are also promoting fashion on the basis of global trends. And as a result, young people make decision to wear or copy any fashion that their favourite celebrity wore. Also brands who are making international trends their baseline to make products, they are very expensive and not every one can afford them. This makes certain section of society feel complex about not being able to take part in today's trendy fashion.

In conclusion, use of social media just for awareness purpose should be encouraged rather than to draw inspiration in every field and thinking of copying. This is the never ending race and once anyone is part of it, he will never feel enough or up to the mark. It is good to have eyes on what is happeing across borders in terms of fashion or anything, but there must be some boundry to it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you consider global fashion a negative influence, and you address both how it spreads and its effects. The discussion of social media, celebrities and brands gives relevant explanations, while the example of shorter shirt lengths illustrates a possible conflict with local cultural expectations. This meets the task well, but the explanation of how global fashion became influential is less fully developed than the discussion of its disadvantages. For instance, you identify social media as a channel but could explain more specifically how visual platforms, advertising or international access amplify trends. Some claims, such as national designers neglecting their main market, also need clearer support. Develop these points with a specific example and a more balanced explanation of the causes.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, body paragraphs present different effects, and the conclusion restates your position. Ideas generally progress from social media and designers to influencers and affordability. You also use linking expressions such as “For example,” “Moreover” and “In conclusion” to guide the reader. At times, however, connections feel mechanical or the relationship between ideas is not fully clear. The paragraph beginning “Not just people” shifts quickly from national trend setters to shirt lengths and cultural values; a clearer topic sentence and explanation would strengthen its progression. The final paragraph introduces advice about social media rather than directly synthesising the main reasons. Use referencing and transitions more precisely to make the argument flow naturally.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “international trends,” “trend setters,” “influencers,” “baseline” and “compromise their own morals.” These choices help communicate your ideas about fashion, media and social pressure, and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, though some combinations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “fashion inspiration is drawn from international trends” and “feel complex” for feeling inferior or excluded. Spelling errors—including “discusion,” “espacially,” “floaded” and “desings”—also reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural collocations and check spelling carefully; precise wording will make your points sound more convincing without requiring unnecessarily advanced vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “which,” “without” and “as a result,” and most of the argument remains understandable. However, some grammatical errors recur and limit control. For example, “Global fashion trends are hot topic” needs an article, while “The social media plays significant role” has article and noun-phrase problems. In “This advancement is badly effecting people's life,” the verb form and singular/plural pattern are inaccurate. There are also awkward sentence constructions, such as “Also brands who are making international trends their baseline to make products, they are very expensive.” Practise accurate articles, agreement and sentence boundaries, and revise complex sentences so each clause has a clear grammatical structure.
