Student answer (Band 5.5)

Fashion trends have become increasingly common in modern society. Global fashion in the form of various seasonal dresses has drawn much attention and largly impacts on the lifestyles of people. Some people believe that fashion is an intrgral part of life so it is very important to adopt it with the passage of time. Whereas others argue that fashion has changed the attitude of people so most of them are only judge others beacuse of their apparent dresses. This essay will explore both perspectives and i ponder that the development should be adopted in a medium way to maintain the moral values.

Firstly, global fashion has increased the value of money and wealth only beacuse people focus only on the prices and new trends and try to reach every new season clothes. For instance, my Aunt is super concious about new fashions and she always active on social media for this purpose that made her so proude and rude to others. As a result, she only known for her show off personality.

Secondly, the advent of modern fashion has inceased the complex of average people because they can not afford such costly outfits. Consequently, it can lead to a societly of two sided residents where only rich people can adopt new fashion while middle class only think about it.

In conclusion, for the reasons outlined obove mailnly, for the extra exhibition of wealth and the complex in young people, i strongly believe that trending fashion is only a negative development for the society in terms of wastge of money and morality.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear negative view in the conclusion, focusing on wasteful spending and social division, and the examples about your aunt and people unable to afford expensive clothes are relevant. However, the response only partially answers the prompt: it explains some negative effects but gives little account of how global fashion became influential. The opening mentions seasonal clothing and social media, but these points are not developed into an explanation of the influence, such as advertising, celebrities, or online shopping. Your position is also less clear in the introduction, where you suggest fashion should be adopted “in a medium way” and refer to “both perspectives,” although the body mainly argues against it. Develop the causes and make your stance consistent throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs beginning “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the main concerns of spending and social inequality. The ideas within each paragraph are generally connected, and linking expressions such as “For instance” and “Consequently” show relationships between claims. However, progression is somewhat mechanical, and the introduction promises to explore “both perspectives” without the essay actually presenting a developed opposing view. Some references are unclear, particularly “that made her so proude and rude,” where the link between social-media activity and her behaviour needs explaining. Use transitions to show the logic between ideas, and ensure each paragraph develops one clearly signposted point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “global fashion,” “seasonal dresses,” “social media,” “costly outfits,” and “middle class,” which allows you to communicate the main concerns. There are also attempts at less common expressions such as “integral part” and “advent of modern fashion.” However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or unnatural choices make parts difficult to interpret: “increased the value of money and wealth,” “increased the complex of average people,” and “societly of two sided residents.” Spelling errors such as “largly,” “intrgral,” and “beacuse” are also noticeable. Aim for precise collocations and check spelling; for example, describe fashion as “increasing pressure to spend” rather than saying it increases the value of money.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including a subordinate clause in “because they can not afford such costly outfits” and a result clause beginning “Consequently.” These structures help express reasons and outcomes. However, control is uneven, and attempts at longer sentences sometimes create faulty or unclear grammar. For example, “she always active on social media” is missing a verb, while “she only known for her show off personality” has an incorrect verb form. The opening also contains a sentence fragment beginning “Whereas others argue,” and the final sentence has inconsistent capitalisation of “i.” Practise complete sentence structures, accurate verb forms, and punctuation, then proofread each sentence to ensure its subject and verb are clear.
