Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that nowadays people are more influenced by world fashion trends and thier dress are changed. There are several reasons why international fashion trends have become so popular among peoples. Although this development has some advantages, I believe it is a negative development overall This essay will discuss the reasons behind this trend and explain why I consider it a negative development.
There are several reasons behind the growing popularity of global fashion. One of the main reason is that is the influence of social media. This is because people now spend a lot of time on social media. They want to follow every trends including clothes, especially young peoples are highly influenced by these modern trends. For example, popular clothing brands promote their modern clothing items on social media including facebook, instagram and tiktok. As a result, people can see these items and become interested in trying them.
However, I believe it is a negative development as it can weaken people's natural identity. This is because the more people see these modern fashion trends, the more interested they become following them and they may pay less attention to their traditional culture and clothing. For example, people when see others wearing modern clothes and keeping up with current fashion trends, they also want to become like them. As a result, their cultural identity gradually become weaker. This can not only makes people less connected to their roots but also makes them less interested on traditional clothing.
In conclusion, global fashion trends have a strong influence of people's lives, mainly because of social media. I believe that it is a negative development because it reduces the popularity of traditional clothes and weaken's peoples connection with their cultural roots.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both parts of the prompt: social media is identified as a reason global fashion spreads, and you clearly judge the trend negatively because it may weaken cultural identity. The examples about brands promoting clothes on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, and people copying what they see, are relevant. However, the explanation of how fashion became influential is quite narrow, relying almost entirely on social media, and the negative effects are repeated rather than developed with distinct consequences or a specific example. The claim that traditional clothing loses popularity is plausible, but it would be stronger if you explained how this affects individuals or communities. Develop the causes and effects more fully to make the response more complete and convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining the influence of social media, a paragraph presenting your negative view, and a conclusion. The progression from cause to evaluation is easy to follow, and signposts such as “However” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the flexibility associated with stronger cohesion. However, links within paragraphs can feel mechanical, especially the repeated “This is because” and “As a result.” The second body paragraph also circles around the same idea of copying modern fashion and losing cultural identity. Use more varied, precise links and organise each paragraph around distinct supporting points to improve flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “global fashion trends,” “traditional culture,” “cultural identity,” and “social media,” so the main ideas are generally clear. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “keeping up with current fashion trends.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, form, and spelling errors reduce accuracy: “thier,” “peoples,” “every trends,” and “influence of people's lives” are examples. Some expressions are also repetitive, particularly “modern fashion trends” and “traditional clothing.” Build a wider set of accurate collocations for influence, identity, and cultural change, and check spelling and plural forms carefully. This would make the vocabulary more precise and natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses with “Although,” “because,” and “as a result,” and the overall meaning remains understandable. Some sentences are controlled, such as “For example, popular clothing brands promote their modern clothing items on social media.” However, errors occur in agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction. For instance, “One of the main reason is that is the influence” has faulty agreement and an incomplete structure; “their cultural identity gradually become weaker” needs subject–verb agreement; and “This can not only makes” uses an incorrect verb form. Punctuation is also missing after the introductory position statement. Review agreement and verb patterns, then proofread each sentence for a complete, correctly punctuated structure.
