Student answer (Band 6.5)
Global fashion trends now shape what many people wear everyday. This essay will explain how global fashion has strong influence on individual's lives and the impacts of this dvelopment. I believe the benefits exist, but the downsides are more serious.
To begin with, technology and ecommerce have made fashion accessible to everyone within weeks. Social media platforms like tiktok and intagram spread a style in hours. Addtionally, the red carpet events and k-pop styles influence people about fashion and fast-fashion chains copy styles and sell them on cheap prices making it acessible for every social class. For example, a fashion-style seen on tiktok becomes available overnight and the advertisements increase the pressure to make up with it. E-commerce plays important role in this by facilitating the customers with door-step deliveries of products.
Considering the impacts of this development, I believe this is raising conformity and people are losing their individual identities by rapidly adapting to this fast-fashion race. Furthermore, this consistently changing fashion is causing a rise in global pollution as the industries are the greatest contributors of carbon emission. People have stopped looking for reliable clothing because of these variations in styles and have started opting for the temporary clothing. Moreover, youngsters have been influenced to the extent that they do not even appreciate their cultural clothing and this is the downgradation of cultural diversity.
In conclusion, although there are some positive aspects of this development such as the elevated employment opportunities but i believe the negative impacts are greater and need to be controlled.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both parts of the prompt: you explain how technology, social media, celebrity events and online shopping spread trends, then give a clear view that the disadvantages outweigh the benefits. The examples of TikTok styles and fast-fashion chains make the explanation relevant. Your discussion of conformity, pollution and cultural diversity also gives the position substance. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for instance, the claim that people no longer seek reliable clothing could be linked more clearly to rapid trend cycles, and the employment benefit appears only briefly in the conclusion. The response therefore covers the task, but develops some ideas more fully than others. To strengthen it, explain the cause-and-effect behind each main impact and support the positive side with a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining the spread of global fashion, a paragraph on its effects, and a conclusion that restates your position. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. The progression within the main paragraphs is generally understandable, but some links feel mechanical, and several ideas are placed together without enough explanation of their relationship. For example, the move from pollution to reliable clothing and then cultural clothing could be made more deliberate. The reference to “this” in “this is the downgradation of cultural diversity” is also not fully precise. Use fewer formulaic transitions and build clearer links between each claim and its supporting explanation.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “global fashion trends,” “fast-fashion chains,” “individual identities,” “carbon emission” and “cultural diversity.” These choices make the subject clear, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural combinations reduce accuracy, such as “intagram,” “Addtionally,” “sell them on cheap prices,” and “make up with it.” “Downgradation” is also not an appropriate word in this context. These issues do not prevent understanding, but they limit the precision and naturalness of the vocabulary. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations as complete phrases, especially when describing affordability, pressure to follow trends and environmental effects.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “although” and “because,” and most of the argument remains easy to understand. Some grammatical errors persist, particularly with articles, agreement and sentence construction. For example, “fashion has strong influence” needs an article, while “the benefits exist” is less natural grammatically in this context. In “the industries are the greatest contributors,” the plural subject and broad claim would benefit from more precise construction. The final sentence also needs consistent capitalisation of “I.” These are some errors rather than barriers to communication, but they prevent consistently accurate control. Review articles and agreement, and proofread punctuation and capitalisation after drafting.
