Student answer (Band 6.0)

The global fashion trend has set the bar of how people should dress up at present.

It has become a very strong influence on people's lives. I think this is a negative development overall.

Now, lets see how global fashion trend became the most imactful reason of how people are dressing up today in this modern age. The main cause of this is social media. The social media is like news now-a-days. People love using facebook, instagram, tiktok etc. These give them the update about what is trendy at this very moment. I think people follow this trend to fit in with the rest of the world. People do not like to fall behind at any circumstance and to not let that happen people are trying to match their wardrobe with the global fashion.

This has its upsides such as following the trend, being up to date with the world etc, but it also comes with downsides as well. Let us see some example, when we see a super model on instagram reel with a stunning body wearing a very trendy outfit, we think that those clothes are a snatch. Some people thinks that if they cannot have that within their grab they will left out. They want to be included or more like feel included with the rest of the world. But to afford this feeling they are paying a lot of money. The money which they have to work for hours to earn. So , people are not only wasting their precious money but also their very much valuable time while they are trying to follow the global fashion trend. It is very cool to be in the trend but it comes with consequenses. So, If people wish to follow the trend, its fabulous but they also need to know the costs that comes with it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the prompt: you explain social media’s role in spreading trends and state clearly that the influence is negative overall. The example of seeing a model on Instagram and feeling pressure to buy fashionable clothes supports your concern about spending. However, the explanation of how trends become influential is narrower than it could be: social media is the only main cause discussed, and the idea of wanting to “fit in” is not developed with a further example or explanation. Your view also becomes slightly qualified at the end, where following trends is called “fabulous” if people understand the costs. To strengthen the response, explain this qualification and develop the effects on people’s lives more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction gives your position, the next paragraph explains social media’s influence, and the final paragraph considers costs and consequences. Ideas generally progress from exposure to trends to pressure to spend, so the reader can follow the main argument. However, some linking is mechanical or conversational, particularly “Now, lets see” and “Let us see some example,” while “This has its upsides” introduces a contrast that is not clearly organised before the paragraph returns to the negative effects. The final sentence also shifts toward advice rather than neatly concluding the argument. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example directly to the point it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to discuss fashion, social media, and consumer pressure, including phrases such as “global fashion trend,” “fit in,” and “precious money.” There are also attempts at more expressive language, such as “set the bar” and “fall behind.” However, several choices are inaccurate or informal for an academic essay: “a snatch” does not clearly express the intended idea, and “within their grab” is an awkward way to describe affordability or access. Repetition of “trend” and “people” also limits range. Spelling errors such as “imactful” and “consequenses” further reduce accuracy. Choose precise collocations and a more consistently formal register.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of short statements and longer sentences, including a conditional structure in “if people wish to follow the trend.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “Some people thinks” has subject–verb disagreement, and “they will left out” uses an incorrect verb form. In “the costs that comes with it,” the verb does not agree with the plural noun. There are also issues with articles and sentence punctuation, as in “Let us see some example” and the comma spacing in “So , people.” These errors do not usually prevent understanding, but they make the writing less controlled. Review agreement and verb forms, and proofread punctuation.
