Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both parts of the question: you identify social media, celebrities, international brands and online shopping as influences, and you clearly conclude that the development is negative. You also give relevant effects, including overspending, pressure to fit in, pollution and loss of cultural identity. However, the explanation of how these influences become powerful is brief, and several points are listed rather than developed with examples or clear cause-and-effect reasoning. The positive points in the first body paragraph are not clearly connected to your overall negative position. The response is 16 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to explain and support your ideas. Develop fewer points more fully and add a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the contrast between “on the one hand” and “on the other hand” helps signal the structure. The conclusion also returns to your position. However, progression within the paragraphs is uneven: the first body paragraph moves quickly from celebrities to self-expression, jobs and culture, while the second combines spending, environmental harm, cultural identity and social pressure without clearly grouping or explaining them. Some linking phrases are repetitive, and punctuation and spacing make connections harder to follow. Organise each paragraph around one main idea, then explain it before moving to the next; use referencing and transitions to show how each point relates to your argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “global fashion trends,” “international brands,” “environmental pollution,” “cultural identity” and “traditional clothes.” These choices show that you can discuss the subject, but the range is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or awkward, sometimes making the intended meaning unclear. Examples include “upto date of new fashion,” “unnecessary bcompetition” and “weastern fashion.” There is also repetition of “individuals,” “follow” and “fashion trends.” Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully. For instance, you could describe people as “keeping up with the latest styles” and explain that trends “encourage excessive spending” rather than repeating that people spend too much.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the response includes some useful structures, such as “because factories produce large amount of waste.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts difficult to read. Examples include “people clothing choices are,” “i believe,” “individuals creates pressure,” and “their ignore traditional clothes”; these show problems with possessives, capitalisation, subject–verb agreement and pronouns. Some sentence boundaries and punctuation are also unclear, particularly in the second body paragraph, where ideas run together. Practise building accurate sentences with a clear subject and verb, then combine related ideas using clauses such as “because” or “which.” Proofread for agreement, articles and sentence boundaries.
