Student answer (Band 5.5)

Global fashion trends are shaping modern lifestyles worldwide. There are several features the way human begin dress nowdays are shaped from global fashion trends therefore I totally think its an positive development.

Firstly, this thing help people to get exposed to different cculutres and clothing styles around the world for example: western poeple will learn the clothing and exposure of indian dresses moreover individuals can express thier personalities, creativity through fashion furthermore it will also help in creating employment opporturnities in international businesses and similarly consumers can easily access international clothing brands and get fashionable outfits through online shopping likewise as well as there will be global cometition encourages designers to introduce new styles, materials and designs.

On the other hand, there will be decline in traditional clothing as citizs adopt western fashion not only but even young people may feel pressured to follow expensive fashion trends to fit into society besides fast fashion contributes to textile waste causing pollutio and excessive consumption in addition the general poplation may spend unnecessarily on expensive branded clothes to maintain thier apperance.

Adding on, the global fashion has become more influential by useing of social media like instagram, tik tok and other platforms another reason for it is celebrities for instance actors, influencers inspire poeple to follow particular clothing styles but also e-commerce platforms allow people to purchase international brands conveniently.

In conclusion, although global fashion trends may negatively but i believe there are positive development like promoting clutural exchange, creativity and many more.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the question: you identify social media, celebrities and e-commerce as reasons global fashion has become influential, and you state that you see it as a positive development. You also acknowledge drawbacks, including pressure to buy expensive clothes, declining traditional dress and textile waste. These are relevant points, but some are listed rather than explained. For example, the benefits of cultural exchange and employment are mentioned without showing how they affect people’s lives, while the negative points are not weighed against your positive view. The conclusion repeats your position but does not resolve this contrast. Develop fewer ideas with specific explanations or examples, and make your reasoning for the overall judgement clearer.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has an overall structure, with an introduction, paragraphs on benefits and drawbacks, a paragraph explaining the influence of media and commerce, and a conclusion. This gives the reader a recognisable progression. However, the first body paragraph combines many separate benefits in one long sequence, and the links between ideas are often mechanical. Connectors such as “moreover,” “furthermore,” “likewise” and “as well as” are repeatedly used without clearly showing the relationship between points. The opening of the final body paragraph also feels like an additional list rather than a developed explanation. Use clearer topic sentences, group related ideas, and use referencing or transitions selectively so the argument flows more naturally.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “cultural exchange,” “employment opportunities,” “textile waste,” “excessive consumption” and “e-commerce platforms.” These choices show an effort to discuss both social and environmental effects. However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural phrasing are frequent enough to limit clarity and control, as in “cculutres,” “cometition,” “general poplation” and “maintain their apperance.” Some expressions are also awkward, such as “the clothing and exposure of Indian dresses” and “global competition encourages designers.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations, for example “exposure to different cultures” and “competition among designers.” This would make your vocabulary more precise and easier to follow.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “although” and “as,” and you try to connect several ideas within sentences. However, control is limited, and errors in sentence construction and basic grammar sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “There are several features the way human begin dress” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “this thing help people” has a subject–verb agreement error. The final sentence, “although global fashion trends may negatively,” is incomplete because the clause has no suitable verb or complement. Several sentences also run together without clear punctuation. Practise building complete sentences with accurate subjects and verbs, then use full stops to separate distinct points.
