Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, majority of individuals are wearing diffrent type of clothes beacuse of worldwide famous trends. I believe that it is a negative trend, the upcoming paragraphs will discuss the

relavent reasons behind this phenomenon before reaching on certain conclusion.

Commencing with, there are myriads of reasons why the dressing of dewllers are getting influenced. First and foremost reason is the trend of social media. To be more precise, when people watch differnet types of attires wore by famous personalities on social media platforms, they try to copy the style of their favourite people. For instance, Diljit dosanjh is very popular amoung the youth, all of his fans loves to wear same clothes as his, they not only copy his clothes but also started wearing turban like him.

However, some people opine it is a negative development, since, youngsters buy number of clothes while trying to immitate thier idols, they not only waste thier time during shopping but also spend alot of money, which may put financial burden to the family members.Because of this, the other members of family may not feel comfortabe with that person, who gives importance to spend on clothes more rather than doing something for family. Moreover, another loss will be in cultural values, as the dwellers starts giving priortising to others culter, it will directly shows that how they will be breaking from their own culture.

To conclude it, socila media plays vital role for the incriment of this trend, as it will declines the moral values of residents, it is utterly a negative development among all the individuals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both parts of the prompt: social media is identified as a reason global fashion spreads, and your position that this is negative is clear. The Diljit Dosanjh example gives the explanation some specificity. However, the response only partly develops the question of how fashion became a strong influence: it focuses on copying celebrities but does not explain other mechanisms, such as global brands, online shopping, or international advertising. The negative effects—spending, family tension, and loss of cultural values—are relevant, but are asserted rather than fully explained or supported. Develop each main point with a clearer cause-and-effect explanation and a relevant example to make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph explaining social media’s influence, a paragraph presenting negative effects, and a conclusion. This gives the reader a basic route through your ideas. However, progression is limited because the first body paragraph explains the cause while the next shifts to consequences without a clear link between them. Some transitions are mechanical or awkward, such as “Commencing with” and “However,” which suggests a contrast that is not clearly established. The long second body paragraph also combines financial, family, and cultural concerns without separating or developing them. Use simpler, more precise linking phrases and organise each paragraph around one main point, with clear references between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “worldwide famous trends,” “financial burden,” “cultural values,” and “moral values,” and the main message is generally understandable. There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “myriads of reasons,” though some choices are inaccurate or unnatural. Frequent spelling errors—including “diffrent,” “relavent,” “immitate,” and “priortising”—make the writing less clear and reduce the effectiveness of your vocabulary. Collocations such as “trend of social media” and “increment of this trend” are also imprecise. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common word partnerships; choose straightforward, natural phrasing when you are unsure of a more ambitious expression.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “when people watch…” and a result clause introduced by “as.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “all of his fans loves” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “the dwellers starts” also mismatches subject and verb. In “they not only waste… but also spend,” the verb forms need to match the surrounding sentence structure, and several sentences run together without appropriate punctuation. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries first. Then build longer sentences from correctly controlled clauses rather than joining several ideas with commas.
