Student answer (Band 6.0)

With the increasing globalization, people are getting influenced by the global trends of clothing. This growing influence is largely contributed by social media, promotions by celebrities and worldwide availability. From my perspective this is a positive development.

One of the significant reason for the strong influence on people is social media. Platforms like Instagram, TikTok and Youtube promote international clothing through reels and videos. For instance, these apps recommend similar clothing item and content that people searched once. This influence individuals to purchase the item. Additionaly, the promotions by famous personalities which influence people's clothing choice and young people begin to imitate their favourite celebrities. Another reason is accessibility of global brand all over the world. There are numerous websites and applications that provide fashionable clothes of every country. Eventually, people will have wider options to choose from.

There are several positive effects on the lives of people and society. Firstly, get exposure to different culture and tradition, they can learn about international clothing style, eventually. For example, people can find similarities in some country's culture and it encourages acceptance.

Secondly, people can be creative with their styling as they can experiment by mix -matching.

It builds confidence and identity of the people. Like young people combining traditional Idin clothing with western fashion and making indo-western outfits. Lastly, Global fashion creates employment opportunities, local designers can promote their collections through social media. Eventually, Fashion industry contribute in economic development.

In conclusion, global fashion trends have influenced people in a positive way and encouraged people in their way of styling.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the question: you identify social media, celebrity promotion and global availability as causes, then clearly state that you see the influence as positive. The examples about recommended clothing, young people imitating celebrities and combining traditional Indian clothing with Western styles are relevant. However, the explanation of how these causes make fashion influential is brief, and some benefits are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the point that exposure to other cultures encourages acceptance would be stronger if you explained how seeing or wearing different styles changes attitudes. The employment point is also introduced quickly. Develop fewer ideas in more depth, linking each example directly to the effect, to make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on positive effects and a conclusion. Sequencing is generally easy to follow, and signposts such as “One…,” “Another reason,” “Firstly” and “Secondly” help readers recognise the main points. However, some linking is mechanical, and the progression within paragraphs is occasionally unclear. In the benefits paragraph, “Firstly, get exposure…” lacks a clear subject, while “eventually” is used without showing a specific sequence. The conclusion repeats the positive position but does not draw together the main reasons. Use clearer links between claims and examples, and vary transitions so that relationships between ideas—not just their order—are explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “global trends,” “accessibility,” “fashionable,” “experiment” and “employment opportunities.” These choices make the subject clear, and phrases such as “wider options to choose from” and “economic development” show attempts to express ideas beyond basic vocabulary. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or imprecise, however: “influence is largely contributed by” is awkward, “similar clothing item” is not well formed, and “mix-matching” is not the natural expression. There are also spelling and capitalisation slips, including “Additionaly,” “Youtube” and “Fashion.” Aim for more natural collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully; this will make your vocabulary more precise and fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “clothing item and content that people searched once” and a sentence beginning “As they can experiment…” would allow you to show clearer subordination. Meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “One of the significant reason” needs plural agreement, and “This influence individuals” needs a verb form that agrees with its subject. The fragment “Firstly, get exposure…” has no clear subject, while “Fashion industry contribute” has agreement and article problems. Review subject–verb agreement, articles and complete sentence structure, and proofread punctuation. More accurate control of these patterns would strengthen the range you are already attempting.
