explain arrangements you have made for them to have keys and get into the house
tell your relative how to get from the train station to your house

Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Chris,
I am happy to hear that you are coming tomorrow in the morning to stay at my house. I am writting this letter to inform you regarding my meeting schedule at work. Unfortunately, I won't be able to come to pick you up from the train station due to an important meeting for my next project at office. Thus, I have kept the house key behind the pot of money plant. Grab the key from there and get into the house.
Despite this, it will be very easy for you to reach home from the train station. Grab a taxi and tell the driver to drop you off to the apartments near the Inorbit mall. And ofcourse, I live in the D block on 4th floor with flat number 409. I will be reaching home around 3 pm in the noon and after that will spend our evening at the nearest gaming cafe which has been recently opened. I am ecited to meet you tomorrow.
Yours truely,
David

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three requested points: you explain where the key is, give directions from the station, and say when you expect to be home and what you could do together. The practical details, such as “behind the pot of money plant” and “D block on 4th floor with flat number 409,” make the arrangements useful. However, some information is less fully developed: the route relies mainly on taking a taxi and naming a nearby mall, so clearer directions or a landmark-to-house explanation would help. The evening plan is also brief; you could add why the gaming café might appeal or suggest an alternative. These details would make the response more complete and developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The information follows a sensible order, moving from your work commitment and key arrangements to directions and evening plans. The opening and closing also make the letter recognisably personal. Linking phrases such as “Unfortunately,” “Thus,” and “Despite this” help connect ideas, although “Despite this” does not express the relationship very naturally here, since the directions are not really a contrast with the key arrangement. The main body is presented as one long paragraph, so separating the key arrangements, travel directions, and evening plans into short paragraphs would make the progression easier to follow. Overall, the message is coherent, but some cohesion is mechanical and could be more precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the situation, including “important meeting,” “train station,” “drop you off,” and “nearest gaming cafe.” These choices communicate the arrangements clearly. There are, however, several spelling and word-choice slips, including “writting,” “ofcourse,” “ecited,” and “truely.” Some expressions are also awkward or imprecise: “meeting schedule at work” and “drop you off to the apartments” are not natural collocations in this context. Aim for accurate, natural phrases such as “work schedule” and “drop you off at the apartments.” More precise vocabulary for the route and evening plan would also add flexibility without making the letter sound overly formal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The letter includes a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, such as “I won't be able to come to pick you up … due to an important meeting” and “I will be reaching home around 3 pm … and after that will spend our evening…”. The meaning remains clear, but some grammatical patterns need more control. For example, “I will be reaching home … and after that will spend” omits the subject “I” in the second clause; “drop you off to” uses an incorrect preposition in this construction; and “on 4th floor” needs an article. The time phrase “around 3 pm in the noon” is also grammatically awkward. Check articles, prepositions, and parallel sentence structure, while continuing to use varied sentence forms.
