Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly explained the key arrangements, provided instructions for the journey from the station, and suggested an evening activity. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a family member, and the purpose of the letter is clear throughout. To improve, ensure that your explanations are slightly more precise; for example, the instruction about the key under the mat is clear, but the logistical details regarding the taxi could be more naturally integrated. Overall, you have fulfilled the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized into distinct paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Once you reach', 'In regards to', and 'Additionally' to connect your ideas. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly forced. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be smoother. For instance, the transition between the taxi booking and the restaurant suggestion is a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used more naturally would help elevate your score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message, including terms like 'convenience', 'luggage', and 'residence'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'send you my warm greeting', 'relax yourself', and 'travel plains' (likely a misspelling of 'plans'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do highlight a need for more precise collocation and spelling accuracy. To reach a higher band, focus on using more natural collocations and ensuring that your vocabulary is consistently accurate in a variety of contexts.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'welcome to home' (should be 'welcome to my home'), 'reach at the address' (should be 'reach the address'), and 'It will hardly takes' (should be 'It will hardly take'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma splices and run-on sentences. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions. Increasing your control over complex sentence structures while reducing these recurring errors will significantly improve your grammatical accuracy.
