Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task. You explained the key arrangements, provided directions from the station, and suggested evening activities. However, the tone is somewhat inconsistent for a letter to a family member, and the opening is slightly confusing as it addresses the recipient with 'hey' and then immediately pivots to 'you are doing good', which is irrelevant to the prompt. To improve, ensure your ideas are more clearly developed and that the tone remains consistently warm and appropriate for a personal letter.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organized into logical sections, which helps the reader follow your points. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite limited and sometimes mechanical. For example, the transition between the arrival instructions and the bus directions is abrupt. Using more varied linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'once you arrive' would help the flow of your writing. Additionally, the paragraphing is not clearly defined, which makes the text look like a single block of information rather than a structured letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'make the arrangements' and 'go out for walk'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'will already preferred at meal', which is unclear. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more natural, idiomatic expressions suitable for a personal letter and ensure that your word choices accurately convey your intended meaning without causing confusion for the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with articles ('the train station'), prepositions ('pick you from'), and sentence structure ('there is city bus who just stop'). Some sentences are run-on, such as 'you get into the house have shower and make tea', which lacks necessary conjunctions and punctuation. While your meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and punctuation hinder the overall fluency of your writing. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct sentence construction will significantly improve your score.
