IELTS Writing Task 1 question

A family member is coming to stay with you. He/she will be arriving by train in the morning, but you won’t be home until the evening.

• explain arrangements you have made for them to have keys and get into the house

• tell your relative how to get from the train station to your house

• say when you will be home and suggest what you could do together that evening

Student answer (Band 7.0)

Dear Adam,

I am thrilled to hear that you are coming home next week on 25th July after such a long time. I was super excited to pick you up from the railway station. Unfortunately, an important unforeseen meeting has been come at the same day at work.

However, I have requested my friend Adil to get you home. I have sent him all your details and a phone number. He will contact you once he arrived. I will send you his photo and number so that you could easily recognize him. The keys are put underneath the doormat so get into the house.

My meeting will be finished around 5pm. After that I will straightly come home to see you. Get fresh and ready because I have planned a dinner at a newly opened restaurant near to our house. I believe you would definitely like it as it offers variety of Italian food you like the most.

I am more than happy to see you soon.
