Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task: explaining the key arrangements, providing directions, and suggesting evening activities. However, the development of these points is somewhat limited. For example, the directions are quite difficult to follow due to unclear phrasing (e.g., '10 number bus which is drop the conestoga college'). While the purpose of the letter is clear, the tone is inconsistent; it shifts between informal and slightly awkward phrasing. To improve, ensure that your instructions are logical and easy for the reader to follow, and maintain a consistent, friendly tone throughout the letter.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For instance, the transition 'however' at the start of the second paragraph is used incorrectly, as there is no contrast with the previous paragraph. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'the 36 bus and leave the bus Thomas slee'. Improving the use of linking words (e.g., 'firstly', 'after that', 'consequently') and ensuring they are used in the correct context would significantly improve the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic. You rely on simple words and phrases, and there are several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'important metting' (meeting), 'snaks' (snacks), and 'leave the bus Thomas slee' (get off at Thomas Street). There is also a lack of variety in your language. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more descriptive language and ensure correct spelling. For example, instead of saying 'I am very busy', you could use 'I have a hectic schedule' or 'I am tied up with work'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text. Issues include incorrect verb tenses ('I know you came' instead of 'I know you are coming'), missing articles ('go to 10 number bus'), and inconsistent capitalization. Sentence structures are generally simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in grammatical errors, such as '10 min walk you can se my house'. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles. Proofreading your work for these common errors before finishing would help improve your accuracy.
