Student answer (Band 6.5)
Hi, my loving sister
I hope you are enjoying your summer vacation and don't want to come back yet. I'm writing this letter to let you know that the keys are under the front door mat, and I have made your favourite delicious food, such as fries, along with orange juice. Don't forget to have it. Apart from it, Your friend will be there to meet you at 5:00 p.m and I have booked a red taxi for you around 4:00 P.M and its number is DCF 5036. His name is Jack. he will drop you off at home.
However, if you want to go outside with your friend for shopping, you can ask the same taxi driver; I'll pay him online.
Moreover, I'll be coming back at 7:00 pm, and I have made a plan for tonight to go to a movie.
See you in the evening.
Thank you
Simi

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining the key arrangements, providing directions from the station, and suggesting evening plans. However, the response is quite brief and lacks the necessary development required for a higher band. For instance, the directions are somewhat confusing; you mention a taxi driver meeting her, but the prompt asks you to explain how to get from the station to the house. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to a family member, but the content feels a bit rushed, which limits the depth of your communication.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a basic logical progression, moving from the arrival arrangements to the evening plans. However, the paragraphing is non-existent, which makes the text feel like a single block of information. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Apart from it' and 'Moreover', these are used somewhat mechanically. The flow between sentences could be improved by using more varied linking words to connect your ideas more naturally. The overall structure is coherent enough to be understood, but it lacks the sophisticated management of ideas expected at higher levels.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it is quite basic. You rely on simple phrases like 'made your favourite delicious food' and 'go to a movie'. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic language that would demonstrate a wider range. While your word choices do not impede communication, they do not show the flexibility or precision required for a higher band. To improve, try to incorporate more descriptive adjectives and varied verbs to make your writing more engaging and natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are several grammatical errors. For example, 'I have made your favourite delicious food, such as fries' is slightly unnatural, and 'Apart from it, Your friend' contains a capitalization error. There are also issues with punctuation, such as the inconsistent use of 'p.m' and 'P.M'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to keep the score in the mid-range. Focusing on sentence variety and proofreading for minor errors would be beneficial.
