Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: key arrangements, directions, and evening plans. However, the content is slightly confused in places. For instance, you mention your parents are arriving by train, but then state a relative will pick them up from the airport. This inconsistency makes the instructions unclear. Additionally, the directions from the station to your house are missing; you only mention a relative picking them up, which does not fulfill the requirement to explain how to get there. To improve, ensure your ideas are consistent and that every part of the prompt is explicitly answered with clear, logical details.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into a single block of text, which lacks proper paragraphing. Using paragraphs to separate the different points (key arrangements, directions, and evening plans) would significantly improve the flow. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Not only this but also', the transitions between sentences are often abrupt or mechanical. The logical progression is hindered by the lack of clear structure, making it difficult for the reader to follow the sequence of events. Improving your use of linking words and organizing your ideas into distinct paragraphs will help you achieve a higher score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for a personal letter, but it is quite basic and contains several errors in word choice and collocation. For example, you use 'in office' instead of 'at the office', and 'go for watch a wonderful move' instead of 'go to watch a wonderful movie'. There are also issues with word forms, such as 'I already buy' instead of 'I have already bought'. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and paying closer attention to verb tenses and word forms. Expanding your range of descriptive adjectives would also make your writing more engaging.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the response that occasionally impede communication. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('papa love's cold drink'), missing articles ('in office'), and incorrect verb tenses ('when you arriving', 'I will came back'). You rely mostly on simple sentence structures, and your attempts at more complex sentences often contain errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that your verbs match the subject and tense of the sentence. Proofreading for small errors like missing prepositions or incorrect verb forms will help you achieve greater accuracy.
