Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all three bullet points of the prompt: key arrangements, directions from the station, and evening plans. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a family member. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the 'special protocols' are described, but the explanation of the taxi arrangement is slightly confusing, and the evening plans are mentioned only briefly. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your ideas with more detail, such as explaining why you chose a specific taxi service or providing more context about the evening activity to make the letter feel more natural and fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The letter follows a logical progression, moving from the arrival logistics to the evening plans. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore' and 'Nevertheless' to link ideas. However, the paragraphing is non-existent, which makes the text look like a single block. In IELTS writing, even in a letter, you should use clear paragraph breaks to separate the different topics (e.g., one paragraph for arrival/keys, one for the taxi, and one for the evening plans). Additionally, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced, such as 'In the consequence of present situation'.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'protocols', 'consequence', and 'eagerly'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors. For example, 'writhing' is used instead of 'writing', 'pleasurefull' is misspelled, and 'special cousin' is used instead of 'special cuisine'. These errors occasionally distract the reader. To improve, focus on using common collocations correctly and proofreading for spelling errors. Expanding your vocabulary to include more natural phrases for informal letters would also help improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the flow. Examples include 'I have came to know' (incorrect verb tense), 'you will arrived' (incorrect verb form), and 'I will not be able to home' (missing preposition). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and incorrect capitalization. While the meaning remains clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. You should focus on mastering basic verb tenses and ensuring subject-verb agreement.
