IELTS Writing Task 1 question

A family member is coming to stay with you. He/she will be arriving by train in the morning, but you won’t be home until the evening.

Student answer (Band 7.5)

Dear Lily,

I hope you are doing well. I am really looking forward to see you. Unfortunately the day you are arriving , I would be out from home for business meeting. I am apologize about that I can’t meet you at the station.

To make things easier, I have left a spare key with my neighbour, Mrs. Brown, who lives in the house next door. Just knock on her door and tell her you are my cousin. She already knows you are coming and will give you the key.

Getting to my house is quite simple. From the train station, take bus number 12 and get off at Maple Street. From there, walk straight for about five minutes until you see a small park. My house is directly opposite the park and has a blue front door.

I should be home by around 6:30 p.m. After you have had some time to relax, we could go out for dinner at our favourite restaurant or watch a movie at home and catch up on everything. I’m sure we will have a wonderful evening together.
