Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The letter addresses all three bullet points: key arrangements, directions, and evening plans. However, the response is slightly under the 150-word minimum, which impacts the overall score. While the ideas are relevant, they are somewhat underdeveloped. For instance, the instructions for the taxi and the key location are functional but lack detail. Additionally, the tone is inconsistent; while it is a letter to a family member, the phrasing is occasionally abrupt (e.g., 'that guy deliver food'). To improve, ensure you expand on your ideas to meet the length requirement and adopt a more natural, conversational tone suitable for a relative.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The letter is organized into three short paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the sequence of information. However, the use of cohesive devices is very limited. There is a lack of linking words or transition phrases to connect sentences smoothly. For example, the transition between the key instructions and the breakfast arrangements is abrupt. The punctuation is also inconsistent, with several missing capital letters at the start of sentences and after periods, which makes the text feel disjointed. Improving the use of conjunctions and ensuring proper sentence boundaries would significantly enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying on simple, functional language. There are several spelling errors, such as 'acually' (actually), 'stastion' (station), and 'brake fast' (breakfast). The word choice is often imprecise, such as 'that guy deliver food' instead of a more natural description like 'a food delivery service.' While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate a higher level of proficiency. To improve, focus on using more descriptive adjectives and learning the correct spelling of common words related to travel and household arrangements.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors, particularly regarding verb tenses and sentence structure. Examples include 'I will not come at station for pick up you' (should be 'to pick you up') and 'we will going for dinner' (should be 'we will go'). There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the reliance on simple, error-prone sentences limits the score. Punctuation is also a significant issue, as many sentences are not properly capitalized or separated. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions would help improve the accuracy of your writing.
