Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear ,
Hello Krunal, how is the packing going with you? i have heard that you have finally made a decision to visit Surat ( my city) .
I am writing this letter to let you know that, I won’t be able to stay home in the morning to welcome you. However , I have personally called the city taxi to pick you up at Surat Railway Station. And I have already allocated a room for you with every essential item.
All you have to do is to find the deck 1 cab waiting area. Since your arrival at the station Is 8:30am ; the cab number GJ05AF1111 ( Maruti Suzuki Swift - white color ) will be waiting for you.
At evening , Once I’m back home, we will have enough time to discuss what we should go together. As there are various leisure activities zones now opened in the city. Moreover we can also go for golf as you enjoy playing in summer.
Just for your reference, i have already attached a screenshot of the taxi booking reference number.
I am indeed excited to have fun together Krunal. I will see you soon in the evening.
Till then Take care .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly explained the arrangements for the keys/entry, provided specific instructions for the taxi, and suggested evening activities. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a family member. However, the task asks how the relative will get into the house, and while you mention a taxi, you do not explicitly state how they will obtain the keys (e.g., leaving them with a neighbor or a lockbox). This is a minor omission in terms of task completion. Overall, the ideas are relevant and well-developed for a semi-formal letter.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the request, which helps the reader follow your ideas easily. You use some cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Since', and 'Moreover' to link your sentences. While the flow is generally good, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The use of referencing is clear, and the overall structure is appropriate for a letter format. To improve, try to vary your linking words further to create a more natural, fluid progression between ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'allocated', 'essential item', and 'leisure activities'. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'discuss what we should go together' (should be 'discuss what we should do') and 'leisure activities zones' (which is slightly unnatural). You also have some minor punctuation and capitalization errors, such as 'i' instead of 'I' and inconsistent spacing around commas. Despite these, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly throughout the letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'how is the packing going with you?' (a bit unnatural; 'how is your packing coming along?' is better) and 'what we should go together'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spaces before commas and the use of lowercase 'i'. While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication. To reach a higher band, focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentence structures are used with greater precision.
